109MPH Baja
Anybody know what power the dude in the 109mph Baja at the Shootout was running?
|
Re: 109MPH Baja
What boat was it? Any Idea of who owned it?
|
Re: 109MPH Baja
From what I heard it was a H2X. That is crazy fast for a 24 foot boat.

Re: 109MPH Baja
Is it perhaps the same one as from this thread?

Re: 109MPH Baja
Danny owns the baja here in Grand Rapids. It has an 1100 hp motor built in Muskegon with a little help from Ben at Precision Power in Grand Haven. Danny said it was still pulling when he crossed the line. Nutty NK

Re: 109MPH Baja
The announcer said it was a 27' Baja but didnt know the power. I'm telling ya that that boat just took a set and smoked! ! ! I'm dying to hear what kind of power was in that thing. I am sure it wasnt a H2X or any square transom Outlaw. It had the euro back end. At first I thought it was a 29 outlaw with twins cause it was running so hard, then the announcer said it was a 27 single. it was impressive indeed. Greg

Re: 109MPH Baja
Nauti kitty is it a 27 or what? If it was still pulling just what does it run?

Re: 109MPH Baja
HPJunkie..
It is a 25' H2x... running procharged 1150hp from Steve Morris Racing (he has a website) and the boat was rigged by Ben at Precision Power Offshore in Grand Haven. The drive was built by Dick's Performance Marine, out of Holland, Michigan.. I know this, because I built the drive. Dan doesnt know how fast it will go yet. The boat was put together with a fresh motor and fresh outdrive on Tuesday and Dan ran it easy Thursday and Friday. Sat was the first time he pulled the trigger!! Thats the whole story in a nut shell... What a ride!! Congrats to Dan for his efforts and driving skill!! Dick |
Re: 109MPH Baja
Thumbs up on that one!!!!!!!
|
Re: 109MPH Baja
It reminds me of going out street racing back in the day. Some nights you might just get smoked by a sleeper grandma-mobile.
When I first heard the announcer say 109, I thought it was a mistake. Good job to all involve on making that thing fly. |
Re: 109MPH Baja
Very impressive. Nice build!

Re: 109MPH Baja
Mr. Gadgets,
Just courious was anything done to the hull/deck to reinforce that Baja? I would feel pretty confident saying that the hull wasn't designed to go over 80 let alone 100!!!!!!!!! |
Re: 109MPH Baja
Sounds like Mr. Gadgets & Nauti Kitty pretty much summed it up.
All this was relayed information so correct me if I'm wrong. Fella I work with is related to him. 572 ci with an M4 procharger thought it was (around) 1,200 hp. and had 1069 ft.lbs. of torque. Heard the same that it was still pulling across the line and ran out of fuel too. Lite load I guess LOL Anyways pretty cool & Crazy hopefully continues to be Safe too Believe his name is Dan Bining........ Cougarman |
Re: 109MPH Baja

Re: 109MPH Baja
Did anyone get any pics of that thing?

A H2X is actually a 24' boat, with a molded in swim platform ( probably actually something in the 22'-23' true lenght) He was about 5 boats ahead of me on Saturday. The only thing that looked odd was that he had added some extra vents below the rub rail. When he fired it up, it sounded good, definetely not just something stock with a hairdryer bolted on. ( it was a " p " class boat, supercharged, turbo, nitrous, turbine) After I heard the #, I had to pick my jaw up from the floor of the boat. :D  |
Re: 109MPH Baja
Custom29,
The hull is stock, but the HP gimble kit was installed along with Imco steering. And actually it is 598" with M3. Dyno showed... 1150hp, but a windshield juice sprayer was going to be add for the extra 50hp.. not sure if it was. I would love to see some pics of that run myself... anyone have any?? Dick |
Re: 109MPH Baja
Thats almost as crazy as 123MPH in a 18' Donzi. Impressive for sure.

Re: 109MPH Baja
There is an H2X here in Chattanooga TN that runs high 90's. The scary part is he is running a standard Bravo 1 and doesn't have hydraulic steering either. He asked me to drive it one time to see if a certain prop felt right and I said hell no, I don't play Russian Roullette!
