Do you know what years the Bananas were built in? Are they supposed to be built again?

The Banana's were built from 1976 to 1993. Not sure of how many were made, but definately less than 75.

Charlie McCarthy designed and built the Banana Boat along side Don Arronow.

Now he and his son, Charlie Jr. are going to build them once again. They are also planning on having other models including a 22, 28 and I think a 35. Great pair of guys. They will do well with the new line. We all can't wait.

The white one in the pic above is a 1988. Hull #43. Pleasure version with the extended cockpit and full cabin.

The green one is a 1993. Hull #75 and was the last or second to last one ever made. Full race version with balsa core. No cabin all extra bulkheads and shorty cockpit.

Very tuff boats...

I noticed that the steering wheels on the Banana 24's are in more of a horizontal position (almost flat...like a semi truck) than the more vertical positioning on most other boats. Was this done to aid control at high speeds or for some other reason?

My boat is rather unique regarding the steering wheel.

Most of them are vertical or a 45 degree angle.

I have only seen one other horizontal wheel set up on a Banana like mine.

It was probably a strange option at the factory.

I stand up most of the time, so I find it comfortable. My other Banana has the wheel at a 45 degree angle.

Anyone else notice the ventilated step on the Hydra link above?

That's the first time I've seen that, although I've heard many talk about forcing air under the boat at the step. Anyone know how this works?
