yeah, have him fax you a copy of the front and back of the check 3-days in advance ... cashiers checks can be as bouncy as a bounced check.

Re: Cashier's check scam???
I wouldn't put it in my account regardless, if there is no bank to cash it at, why bother? But fot that matter, why even give out my name or address? I'm not into playing games, I just want to sell a boat, to someone who can appreciate a nice Donzi.
It's not like he's going to send a check for $12K drawn on a good account at Wells Fargo to a PO Box.
I don't think that's how the scam works

Re: Cashier's check scam???
like my father said I got scammed selling something on ebay C.O.D. I sent the item...they guy made a false cashier check for 2700 dollars and the ups guy just handed over the package for a fake check....even with the package insured for the entire amount...I got nothing out of the deal so be careful...ask him for his address and his phone number and arrange to meet him

The forged cashiers check I got said Wells Fargo Bank. I called them and they said they did not issue it therefore it was no good. I had a bad feeling that turned out right. Good thing I still had my motorcycle.
I have since taken one from out of state for $32000.00 for my boat but I had the buyer fax me a copy of the check and I verified with the bank that it was good before I met him with the boat. We was very understanding of my concern that the check was valid. If the guy questions you in any way about verifing the check he is probably trying to scam you.

A cashiers check is no better than a regular check except that it may prove that the money was there when it was written. Nothing to stop them closing account after it is printed. Also you can put a stop pay on a cashiers check.
Cash or wire transfer is safest providing you wire to new account, not you regular account.
