Forgot the camera.. thats just not right :D I would have showed up but i didn't want to show up you big block boys  I would have liked to go but I wasn't in the mood. the boat sat out by the road for sale all weekend.
So who has some pics? :evilb: |
Re: Hardy Dam Hot Boat Weekend
Yup, I was there but had to leave at 3 for my brothers 40th, that and a death were the only excuses. I saw KAAMA and BJ but did not stay in one spot long, went up to the sand bar and under the bridge until the depth was 2ft and then turned around. I was at the cove in the morning with my dogs, they had a blast running up and down the big hill. Saw some really nice boats, some crazy drag boats with 1ft of freeboard, come crazy hydroplanes and some great offshore Vs and cats. That Eliminator, the blue flame one, had to have been the fastest, that was a piece of work, really clean and solid. The clown one blew by me going up the river, I thought I had him at 50 but he passed at about 80 so Ithink he won. :D I wish I could have stayed, I did have fun while there. The girls were earning their beads at 10:30 :D

Re: Hardy Dam Hot Boat Weekend
It was a great weekend..So who was the fastest this weekend?
When I got up Sunday morning I believe Tom E. was out running his turbo Eliminator up and down the river at Brower. Love the sound of the turbines spooling up :D Good to talk to ya Todd. How was the party Saturday? Dwight |
Re: Hardy Dam Hot Boat Weekend
Oh yeah I forgot I had my first ride in a cat. Wow that is not what I thought it would be like. Those cats ride great!!!
Thanks Mike for the ride.. Dwight |
Re: Hardy Dam Hot Boat Weekend
does any one know anything about a boat crashing into a pontoon up on hardy? I was not there but heard about it and was wondering if anyone knew any details. it's said that 3 people got killed. can't wait for next year.

Anyway, I was up there on Saturday with my hog. I arrived there at about 9:30am and there was a very small waiting line for the Brower Park boat launch ramp. Saw many people that I knew, and met several for the first time. The Hot Boat weekend event seems to grow more, and more each year. The cove that everyone congregates at was filling up quickly by noon. My cousin with his 32' Baja quickly nestled into a nice spot with other boats in the cove area. That was the last time I saw him. I had some people I had to meet up with some people back at Brower Park "Tinkerer"/Steve and his wife to come aboard, and another friend with his 32' Active Thunder called "Severe Turbulance" with a pair of 557cid, 810hp supercharged engines. I was able to speak with "Articfriends"/Smitty who had his boat running well and I ran into "WetteVette"/Craig several times at Brower Park but didn't get to see his boat run----boats were everywhere! I returned to the cove a few times during the day...each time more boats were parked, and packed in....my cousin's boat was burried somewhere in the mess and I could no longer see him or even attempt to get anywhere near him. Anyway, just before I put the boat on the trailer at the end of the day I got a really bad spanking by an all white 106mph 39' Velocity with a pair of 950hp supercharged, Sterling engines. I think the guy said he and the boat were from Modern Marine out of Schoolcraft/Kalamazoo area. As far as the weather goes it was a hot, gorgeous, sunny day---my boat/engines ran well, and had an awesome time. More later... |
Re: Hardy Dam Hot Boat Weekend
Hey, it was a great time up there. I met a lot of nice people and did get some serious water time, that I needed from not having my boat running this year. I want to thank Jim Valako for the rides!! It was a treat to feel 90mph at will!!
What a great deal of eye candy!! A lot of good looking and running boats. I hope next year my stuff will be running.. I was told second-third hand that at about 10:30pm some talk on the scanner about an accident. I didnt see anything on the news, and I hope it isnt true. If anyone one knows anything let us know.. It was a beautiful day and I hope is was not marred by any mishaps. Mark, thanks for the sandwiches mid day... great food!! Dick |
Re: Hardy Dam Hot Boat Weekend
Hope theres no truth to the accident, but, best wishes if it did happen. Anyone see Earhart run??
|
Re: Hardy Dam Hot Boat Weekend
First time at Hardy and had a great time. I will definitely be going back. Just wish I would of got to the cove a little earlier, came home with a lot of beads. :drink:
Thanks again Wette Vette (Craig). Thanks (MitchStellin) thats was my Eliminator. |

First time there and I will be there every year from now on! What a great time. Running that river is an absolute blast! :D
Hung out on the sandbar for a couple hours before hitting the cove and this thing pulled up. He said it would run 150 mph. He did a couple 130 mph runs and all I can say is holy chit!!! |
Re: Hardy Dam Hot Boat Weekend
Had a great time up there as always!! It was good seeing a decent turn out of OSOers and as usual there is never enough time to BS with everyone. Hope the rumor of the accident is false.

Thanks Mike for the ride.. Dwight Hope you enjoyed the ride. Now that you have ridden in a cat, you will not want to get back in your Vee...lol. I had a great weekend until I started to lose oil pressure Saturday afternoon. Cat-n-around let me tag along in his gorgeous blue flamed eliminator, so I still ended up having a great weekend. |
Re: Hardy Dam Hot Boat Weekend
We had a great time on Friday and Saturday. It is to bad that Max Velocity had engine trouble or it would have been a perfect weekend. It was nice talking with Dwight as well as KAAMA. Did anyone stay and boat on Sunday? How many people usually stay?
|
Re: Hardy Dam Hot Boat Weekend
Next year no other plans!!!! I was in the cove at 10 and left at 12:30 to see the sand bar, then it was time to go....not next year though. Thanks Cat....that was a beauty but I think the fender boat may take it....for about 5ft, it does jump out of the water but runs out of steam at 55. :D

Re: Hardy Dam Hot Boat Weekend
Had a great time up there. Saw allot of OSO'ers boats, now I can put boats with names. Baron it appeared that you were the gateway to the Cove, Wette Vettes' boat was beached at Brower when I launched, that blue Eliminator was pretty trick, KAAMA's boat sounds healthy as all get out, every time I turned around he was flying by. You must have went through a ton of gas. Yeah I saw that 39' Velocity, heard it 5 minutes before I saw it!! all white sharp boat.
Usually Party on the Pond is the last time I use the boat for the year something expensive always breaks. This year the only injury to White Knuckle was the starboard prop and my wallet. Jason |
Re: Hardy Dam Hot Boat Weekend
Sounds like everyone had a great time..
I have been looking for info on any accident, but at this point no news.. I am hoping it was just a rumor. Saturday was the 10yr anniversary of my accident up there on the Pond. It can be a brutal place at times. My accident was a hardware failure and I and my passenger are very fortunate to still be here. see you all there again next year.. Dick |

Jason We rafted off with a few other boats for a while just outside the entrance to the cove later in the day and I made some of my deli Italian roast beef sandwiches for my crew, and a few others. We stayed there until we felt it was time to go---'bout an hour or so before sundown. Where did you ding your prop---hit a deadhead/stump? Where did it happen? Did anyone ever see that little 22' Baja with the 1100hp engine that does something like 109mph? He and Tom Earhart were suppose to shoot it out---was just curious. |
Re: Hardy Dam Hot Boat Weekend
I was out Saturday evening doing a little running and I saw the Baja go by. He had a boat load of people on board and didn't appear to be looking for a race. I did run against the 39 Velocity. That was quite a rush running side by side with something that big and fast!! I heard Tom Earhart was running great, but fortunately for me our paths never crossed. :D How fast is Severe Turblence? He surprised me when we ran them Saturday evening.

You stay away from those Active Thunders son,....they're dangerous! :snide: :drink: |
Re: Hardy Dam Hot Boat Weekend
Mark, Thanks for the pop and sandwich. I had a great time, too short though. I wish I could have stayed overnight. Dick If you trade that boat on a fountain your problems would go away (:

I didn't say he beat me, but a compliment is certainly due to him for his efforts! :p :drink: Same for the 390 Velocity! I wouldn't mess with either of them on their water! |
Re: Hardy Dam Hot Boat Weekend
Hey Craig, I seen you out in front of the cove later in the day Saturday. I was not able to see you run fast...Did you have anyone run with ya? Dwight

Re: Hardy Dam Hot Boat Weekend
For those of you that didn't like Marks engine combination - let me tell you that he got what he wanted and they are VERY stought.
These engines start at the touch of the key and idle at 600 RPM in gear with no sign of stumble ar falter. And as far as torque - his friend with the same hull and 810 HP supercharged engines couldn't catch him from a standing start and he was under propped.( better acceleration ) After Mark gets his shorties installed and some handling isues worked out I feel this boat will be doing mid 90's. I saw 86 GPS before Mark had to back out of it and the R's were still going up at a good clip when he put out the fire breathing monsters. |
Re: Hardy Dam Hot Boat Weekend
The 390 Velocity ran good as did the 32 AT. Cat-N-Around and I are pretty even. I never ran into some of the faster boats that were there. I came out looking for people to run and I think all the partying kept the Saturday evening races toned down. :drink:

Re: Hardy Dam Hot Boat Weekend
Was great meeting alot of you guys, weekend went good for me except sat morning when my 02 sensor hole plug fell out and I thought something was clatttering in the valve train(quickly fixed it though). We stayed until dark sunday then boated today on saginaw bay(was mid 90's out). Smitty

Re: Hardy Dam Hot Boat Weekend
After some salesmanship I think I have KAAMA sold on some .780" lift 280 duration solid rollers! Now that Mark has mastered the smooth idle thing he is ready for radical!! just kidding!! Nice job on the motors Mark!! It still sounds great despite the zero lope idle and it is still making very nice power.

Re: Hardy Dam Hot Boat Weekend
Hey Craig,
Any ideas on Mikes boat as to what the problem may be? I saw him on Saturday and he told me about losing oil pressure. I love the ride of that AO. Dwight |
Re: Hardy Dam Hot Boat Weekend
We haven't messed with it yet. I personally think it is either a bad sender or the oil pump pick up broke or somehow came off. The motor went from 60 PSI to 20. He was fortunate enough to see the pressure drop as it happened and he shut it down. He let the motor cool for a while and re-started and the guage didn't move off zero. The motor sounded good with no knocking or valve train clatter when they started it. Even with spun bearings the pressure would be 5 or 10. We will know more soon. Hopefully the sender is bad and we don't have to pull the motor.

Re: Hardy Dam Hot Boat Weekend
If you get the chance let me know. Hopefully it is nothing serious, it would be nice to see what that boat can do with that engine. Dwight

Re: Hardy Dam Hot Boat Weekend
Jim,
that is a tempting thought.. trade the SeaDoo in on a fountain.. a 42' ?? I think I need to get my Check to run like that, it could be fun..!! Thanks again Jim! Dick |

For the most part it was YOUR kind of water! Glad you had fun. Yeah, that 32' Elminator of Devin's was an impressive, clean looking/running boat wasn't it??? Glad Smitty got his boat going again and that it wasn't as serious as he thought. |
