You clean your canopies with???
Having a tough time with this one.

Re: You clean your canopies with???
Plexus (Sp?). Originally designed for cleaning and protecting airplane canopies. It's an aerosol spray can (black and blue w/ white top). Even makes small scratches diminish. I ordered online from Quadratec (use it on my Jeep soft top too), but have seen at some auto parts stores as well.

Do not use paper towels. Always a soft cloth with whatever spray you have.

Try going from a 27' to a 38'. Seems to take forever to clean the bow, and I don't even want to talk about waxing.
I wash the windshield with mild soap, LOTS of water and a clean soft sponge. Then rinse and dry about 95% w/ an Absorber. Then spary with Plexus and polish with a clean cloth. Works great. |

Squeege That one is made for paint, so I'd bet its fine for your canopy. |

If not my detailer has it, I'll ask him where he buys the stuff from. I sub him out for work every now and then.

Re: You clean your canopies with???
PLEXUS is the only way to go. My buddy uses it on his Beach Duke (Twin engine pressurized aircraft) and his T-28 (Korean era military trainer with a HUGE supercharged radial engine). I used it on all the clear vinyl on my 42 Carver - and there's lots of it. Five years later, it was still like new. I use it on my glasses too - plastic lenses.
Use either cloth baby diapers or the yellow clothes you can buy at Walmart. Spray it on heavy and work in a circular motion until the film turns to fog anf then starts disappearing. Then get a dry clean one and buff it. You can buy it West, BoatUS, all motorcycle shops, and directly from Plexus. |
Re: You clean your canopies with???
Called Plexus and spoke with the owner (I think ) about care of sheilds and such. picked up some of the product today at West Marine and coincidently it's half price right now @ $7.99 per 13 oz aerosol can. I will try it out in the AM. Thanks for all the help folks.

Ask for Kevin Schulte at Hardline. He owns the place, is a member of OSO, and can get you a case of it. I use Plexus on a LOT of things, and it works very well. |
