Was a nice unexpected ride, thanks........although I don't think I can slam you on short rides anymore, I think Dee and MTM take the shortest rides of anyone. Did the oil even get hot???? I wonder how big those breakers were? They sure looked like they were a decent size from where we were and they were still a 1/2 mile away. I hear the bay was pretty rough,,, some people had to turn around and come back home.. Looks like it was "another" short ride. :D |
Re: New York Brunch Run
myself, mike and lucididee called it quits and 1/3 of the way out from the Atlantic Highlands. you didnt only have white caps, we had actual breakers that could have been surfed. i've been boating for a very long time at it may not have been the worst water i've been in but it was damn close. solid 4-6's everyone had white water and a 30 outboard cat was definately not the right boat. today was big v day...as i attempted to crest the waves mother nature was literally lifting my bow and placing it where ever she wanted. better luck next time.

AskLucididee and Mike how our ride home from the boat show in Liberty landing was a few years ago. That year the wind was blowing hard out of the northeast instead of the northwest, and there was also a pretty sizable swell coming in from the ocean. By the time we got back to the dock my boat was pretty busted up and it blew the radio out of the cabnet. We hit so hard on one wave I sprained my wrist. I was running drives tucked all the way in, tabs all the way down, plus the motors were getting swamped and kept breaking up. Those were the days in the 30 ft'er. I was going to meet you guys back at the ramp on the way back in, maybe next year will be better and I wont have any friggin christenings to go to! :drink: |

"Whitecaps" everywhere! The pic doesn't do it justice but it was bad out today for sure. Yesterday, the swells were huge but not many whitecaps in the Ocean. Today, was probably one the worst sea conditions of the season in that area. The only good thing about today was visibility. :D Glad everyone made it back safely.

Re: New York Brunch Run
Panther,
I'll be at Navesink Marina this week/weekend, you can leave it at the front desk (John or Ed) and I'll pick it up. Thanks. |
Re: New York Brunch Run
So how many boats were there?
Anyone get any pictures? Since Lucididee didn't make it, I have no pics to look at! |
