baja 252 or 272 x dimension
 

Has anyone had any experience at shortening the lower unit on a baja 252 or 272? What was the gain?

i would love for someone to help me out on the same subject. have a shooter 272 and want to raise the x dimension. any help out there?

We tried a 2" shorty drive on our race boat, and it hurt us by about 1.5 mph on top end, and also made it hard to get on plane even with a 4 blade prop.

The bigest thing we found was that we lost too much bow lift causing too much wetted surface.

The pos. thing about the set up was the handling did improve.

The boat is a 97 272 Boss.

We tried a 2" shortie on a 252 and it took the bounce out. Not sure about the top speed. The owner didn't want to keep it on.
