Me too. He makes theoretical physics understandable to those of us that hate math. I remember in "A Brief History of Time" he said someone had told him that he would lose sales for every mathmatical formula he put in the book. :D

By the way, this has to be the most diverse OSO thread ever. We have drama (boat accident), intrigue (boat theft), physics, and impossible feats (Masher and Sean H figuring ANYTHING out in 6 hours). :D

I was just looking for the science behind how that Skater flipped at 45 :eek: not how I friggen evolved from some piece of plasma :D :drink:

well in the case of the 36 skater... this accident just didn't happen in the 3 spatial dimensions, it also happened in time.. so the Lorenz equation states that length contracts as speed increases and time expands as speed increases....

so basically as his speed increased he didn't have a long enough boat and time slowed down as the boat went over.... :D
