i am sure most cat owners would love to have the insurance premium of a 75 MPH/200k boat... but they don't since they own 160 MPH/750k boat.... as i am sure the owner of that new azimut wishes his insurance was the same as the guy with the sea ray...

i would say just wait for byrd to get his boat going and go for a ride, you may not like it, you may love it, but i would almost bet money that he will run it in the 6+ and no apache will keep up with him... i guess you will have to be one of those seeing is believing kind... i wasn't a true believer until doing it, and now i love it...

Every CAT owner I know has certainly been out in a V and most of them have owned a V....thats why they have cats. You must ride, before you decide..... ...if the glove don't fit, you must aquit

This boat is not 200k and runs 98mph. So the extra money is in the safety of the extra 60mph. Ok

very nice boat, i have seen pics before but didn't know that was yours...

that extra 60 MPH will cost you dearly be it vee bottom or cat...

Try $511 per year full coverage rated at 110MPH by my insurance company. They know everything there is to know about the boat.

What Is The Replacement Value? Nowhere Near A New Big Cat. Insurance Companies Are Scared To Death To Write A Check For Replacement Value Of A Catamaran.

Insurance companies are scared to death to write insurance for anything over 400K that drunk people drive.

There are factors that may result in accidents of cats that most V hull owners are not even aware. Wide beams and higher speeds are more of a factor when combined with the following scenarios:

Losing a tie bar, drives whipping freely

losing a prop

Engine failure

What is true for all boats is they do not reenter the water as they left. They also do not enter the same water conditions. A single sponson hits first and digs, the momentum of weight of the rest of the boat will change direction. V's or cats are not designed to go sideways. V's only have one pointy bow, and therefore all the weight is focused behind that singular pointy spear.

The factor that sets boating and boat racing apart from any other sport or recreation is that the surface you are being propelled across is in a continual, unpredictable and uncontrollable state of change.

Another major difference is the boat profile while running. Deep V's run bow high and cats run flat. A deep V is more likely to have it's bow pitched up. Like Sean H noted, 40+ bigger cats will handle the big stuff but the throtles have to be kept forward.
