I spent summers at my grandmothers on the Isle of Palms...loved it!! If you get a chance, try a boat ride thru there. The area is really beautiful! Plus, a lot of the homes at the Wild Dunes and surrounding areas were rebuilt after Hugo so there are some NICE places to see on the water. One suggestion, make sure you go to RB's at Shem Creek and have dinner...the food is really good! :D |
Re: Charleston SC.
Brian,
We're in Charleston and we've been trying to put the boat in the water for the last two days. Still may get out this afternoon if this crappy weather ever breaks. Yall are welcome to ride along if we ever make it out. Tuesday.... |
Re: Charleston SC.
Don't anyone feel that it might be risky to take Brian and his wife out for a ride. I met them at the shootout this year, and they are good people! Hope to see them and young Brian again in the future. Myabe shootout next year!

My dad did two stints at the Navy base there when I was a kid. We went there this past Fourth of July. The town has changed a lot. It was a nasty, dirty, rundown city when we lived there. It's a very nice tourist friendly place now. We used to live on the Isle of Palms. I still hate that old bridge, it looked like they were almost finished with the new bridge when we were there.

Re: Charleston SC.
That old bridge was a nightmare for sure! They had just opened up the new bypass after I moved down there back in '93. Had a vette then and used to love driving from my apartment on the Ashley river to Sullivans Island over the new bridge . The Windjammer was the place to go over there back then; although, it was really a beach/summer hang out.
Check out Foley Beach too if you like the beach atmosphere. I remember the drive down there used to be like driving out to the country....the low country. Bet that has changed now though. |

We go down a couple of times a year. Have boated all the way from Myrtle Beach to Savannah.
Charleston is our favorite. As for the dually, PARK it and go by taxi. Go to "Poogins Porch" for breakfast on morning. It is GREAT! Hanks Seafood down town by the slave market is very good as well. Make sure you get over to Patriots Point and take the boat ride out to Fort Sumpter, and tour the aircraft carrier, sub and battle ship. Our favorite place to go my boat is "Shem Creek". GREAT food over there with three restaurants. The food at RB's is very good. Enjoy. |
Re: Charleston SC.

I'm actually gonna be IN TOWN this time, don't have any shoots booked and I won't book anything now that I know your coming. We will plan on meeting you guys out and you can naturally have that ride. Brent is tempted, but I still can't get him in the Cat! lol...lol... The weather never got any better here today so we never put the boat in. 3 days of shoot now for "Americas Most Wanted" so I'll be busy for the next couple of days. Now I can't wait for the weekend of the 11th!! Looking forward to catching up with you guys. We'll make sure to get a sitter for Saturday. |
