Hydraulic steering?
I understand that the steering wheel on a full hydraulic system does not stay centered. Is that correct? Can it be centered back up by running it "past the stops" while the motor is running or when the motor is shut down?

They keep turning yes. If you go hard to one side and hold it there the wheel on some systems will continure to turn ever so slightly. There is no way to keep this from happening from what I have been told.

L A T H A M.... Funny, I have the single ram Latham not the full under dash and have never experienced this. Could someone give us the reason why this happens for educational purposes? Is it only on full systems?
Thanks....

It's only with the full hyd. systems. The add-ons are exempt from it.
One word of caution. NEVER hold the wheel at full lock. Pump will heat up tremendously. Fluid will boil, smoke will pour out from the engine hatch, you will decide between jumping in the water or grabbing the extingisher to put out the 'fire'. And your pumps bushings will be toast! New pump, flush lines.
Been there, did that. Ain't gonna happen again! Thought I was going to loose it to the bottom of the lake.
