Never heard of it.
That's something. :) |
Re: Mirage Manufactruing Pics
There are/were 3 or 4 different Mirage boat companies. A west coast custom, Washington State, Texas and Florida. The one in Florida built offshore deep Vs. The one in Texas built River Racers. The other 2 are out of business.
IMHO, the remaining 2 are the best of the bunch. |

Washington State...
We owned a 1997 Mirage 232SZ which was the same hull as the 217. A small company that truly built one of the toughest built performance boats you could buy. They were built to run in the Puegent (sp?) Sound and all the offshore areas of of Washington State. They sold out in 1997 and from what I understand, went to hell. You have a boat with a fast hull but runs into some chine walk issues at 75+. It will however crash waves with the best :drink: PM me if you have any questions.... Dave |
Yes, that's about the correct story... Mirage (Washington State) has since been bought and re-opened intermittently a few times since, and I believe they have a website up that would indicate that a new Mirage 217 is now available, but I can't find any other evidence that they exist anymore.
I own a 217 myself, and I know of several around my area (Seattle). They do crash waves quite nicely, the 217 has a great ride for a 21 1/2 foot boat. A friend with the same boat but a lot more power (mine is the standard low-compression 454 with a Bravo 3, tops out at about 60 but grips like a 4x4) says it starts to feel iffy and scary over 70 MPH. |
