oil pans

Ok. So I already did the search on oil pan threads.

It seems that Stef's is the leader, except for one very unhappy customer and a possible long wait.
Canton is a close second with no complaints, and an Olsen here and there.

These threads were a couple years old so I'd like to get an update.
Who likes what oil pan and why?

So lets hear it!

Re: oil pans

Do not use MILODON pans. My ex son in law put them on his 540's. the leak and do not fit very well. They were a b!tch to install. An engine builder used a pair on a pair of 588's I bought. These were the 12/14 qt true offshore style. They were also junk. I have run Canton's successfully in the past on 468's and 540's in the past. There is a reason the MILODON's are cheap. My current pan's are Olson's and I am pleased with them. You might want to look at an aluminum pan from Eikert/Hardin for the ultimate. Joe Murray

Your lucky day - I have (2) cast aluminum Kieth Eickert Pans looking for a new home - These also have the bosses for a front mount oil pump - $ 300.00 each. 571-259-4056

Thanks Joe. Milodon wasn't even a consideration. I have all the catalogs and price lists. Olson is $600!!!
Right now I'm really concentrating on Stef's and Canton steel pans. I have reservations about aluminum. But, thanks for offer James.

hey Fred, I was gonna call you to see if you had any. :D

It's a Dart (mark 4, 2 piece rms) 4.5 stroke
I really like the Canton 18-380 and of course I'll need the 18-381 p/u and the 20-850 dip stick.

I've used Cantons a number of times with no problems. My only dislike with them is the generic , one size fits all dipstick. Check levels before installation.

I had Stef's put on my Sterlings last winter. Really like them.

Yes, I've read that before. If that's the one I go with I'll install the dipstick to see where/how it fits in relation to level.
Thanks for the tip.
