Are both plates in your name? Your explanation sounds plausible if so. Heck, I put the wrong stickers on the wrong plates one year and didnt see it until the next year.

Yes both of them are in his name.

I was following him in my car on the way home and saw him running plates. I thought he was running mine (I was late in renewing my tags - its renewed now but am waiting on the stickers in the mail so it looks like they're not current) but he ran Thrill's instead. The part that makes me angry is that he passed up my plate (that looks out of date) to run his that looked like it was perfectly fine.

So, then you are guilty. No point in pleading not guilty then. I'd try no contest in front of the judge. Explain your error, tell him that you have corrected it and hope he reduces it to court costs.

yeah both plates are in my name, I gave the cop both registrations and explained the entire situation to him, he didnt seem to care. I wish I knew someone within the legas system in Seneca County that I could talk to and get a better idea of what Im dealing with.

This sucks, a simple explanation could possibly make this whole thing go away, but at the same time may land me in some deep chit. The people that I need to talk to wont say a word until after the initial hearing meanwhile to cover my a$$ my lawyers timeclock is spinning for something I may not even need him for.

I have been in a similar situation. In Oklahoma, we do not have license plates for boat trailers. They just use the numbers on the boat as registration. Every time getting oversize load permits for boats is a biotch explaining that we don't have license tags

Make an appointment with the Prosecuter and take in all the paperwork and registrations and and explain the honest error and try to work out a plea bargain on your own.

As far as the ticket affecting your insurance--it should not. It is not a moving violation.

That's a bit over the top, if you ask me. Should have been a warning, no more.

In MI, there's an option on the back of traffic tickets to admit guilt with an explanation. I've done this successfully several times to get tickets, fines, and or points reduced or dropped.

Sorry Thrill,

The police are constantly running tags as they drive behind cars. That is probably the number one way they stop folks.

Easier and cheaper to be legal.

Cross your "T"'s and dot your "i"'s.

Good luck and hope all works out.
