Broke the Rear End in My Chevelle
 

I haven't ran my Chevelle at the Track in about 5 years. I built this new 350ci street motor last year and figured I would go see what it would do. The car has always been tuff on rear ends :rolleyes: It weights 3840 with out me in it . So its on the heavy side .The drag slicks were about 7 years old . You can tell by the video it wasnt getting much smoke.It wasn't hooking real good until the 7th pass.Pow :eek: :drink:

Yea I thought I was in the OT section when I posted it ,. it'll prob get moved. Yea its some old parts laying around thrown together. Like JC called my engines handgernades :evilb: At least my rear ends and trans have been handgenades:D

As with any race car you always find the weakest part first. Once the rear is fixed you'll find something else to break. Like the driveshaft or trans.

strip get rid of the 12 bolt and put in a dana60...problem solved. what tranny you running th350? th350's are like bravos

Exactly why I leave the street tires on my 454 'vette. I'd rather burn up the tires than break the rear end.

I ve been thru breaking everything!! The weak link has been the ring gears, It cracks the teeth. I have been replacing them before boom, but being a street car the acasonial trip to the track . I dont mind just breaking the gears .I went thru 2 drive shafts being its 52 /12 long. I bought a Dennys 4340 shaft with 1350 joints It use to break 2nd gear sprags also.The Coan TH 400 trans has the 2.75 first gear4.56gear 28in slick so it has a pretty good hit off the line on the juice:DIts heavy

Put a 9" ford under that beyotch and it'll probably go faster too!
