496/HO in Top Gun
What the speeds to expect with stock 496/HO and bravo 1's in a full cabin non-step top gun ?

Re: 496/HO in Top Gun
depends on the year, but probably low to mid 60's.

I think that they built quite a few in the early 90's that had 502 mags. they ran mid-high 60's. I have a buddy that has a 94 with 500efi's. His boat runs 72 on gps.

we have twin 1050's and we see 105-107 but to get to a hundred a pair of 875 hp or 900 will do cause i know most non-steps guns that have twin 850 see 94-95 mph all day

jr Your Dad's is staggered. IMO, With a side-by-side config...it would take 975 per side to hit 100....maybe more depending on setup. I've heard that D-Man's ran 104-105 with 1000's. |

[QUOTE=gotime34]What HP would you need to go 100MPH in a non-stepped? Old School's is one of the only ones I've seen thats goes over 100. Does anyone know of any others? Sorry to sort of hi-jack your thread Smokin.[/QUOTE
You need a few thousand hp in a non stepped Gun to really run in the 100s . With almost 900HP per side in our lighter weight 97 Kevlar Cover Girl Gun we have run a best of 95mph with 2 people low fuel good air and very rough water. High 80s fully loaded every day of the week. It takes a ton of power to make these boats run , but there aren't to many Vs that will handle like the Gun at speed in the true Rough stuff! |
Re: 496/HO in Top Gun
Yeah I can't imagine it would run very fast with 496's. We only get low 70's with 540 Bulldogs at 500HP a side.
