OK, I know the majority on the board are going to KW, I however will be in St. Pete.
KW was a blast last year, but the wife and I wanted to do St. Pete (I was born there, and over the race weekend we will be celebrating our 2nd anniversary - which took place on the beach in St. Pete).

So who else is going to be in St. Pete?
Any places to be, parties to be at??
Would love to hook up with anyone going, and maybe "sponge" a boat ride from one of the locals.

Why are the races being held over on the west side? The info states that the wet pits are 17 miles from the dry pits?

Watch the races from the Don Cesar hotel. That should be the S/F line.

What time do the dry pits open??? I want to do photo ops there first then meander (drive like hell) to the beach in front of the Don Cesar....

Where are the wet pits going to be? I assume they will be coming out the "miserable mile" to the gulf.

Why are the not racing by the Pier? Was it a Manatee/Sea Turtle/Coast Guard Permit thing? Whatever it was it's too bad because the top of the pier is the best place I've ever watched a race from including Mallory Square. I'm sure the gulf will be a great race too, Hurricanes and the Don will be good places to watch. If the wind kicks up offshore it will be a really good race

That is exactly what I want to get into, just not enough cash yet, and gotta sell the wife on it. I'm sure going for a ride would make it easier.

If you have animals you have to be flexible. Both my primary and backup sitter decided to go out of town to beat the holiday rush. :(

There were/are some other problems but I won't go into that.

I can get to (drive) St Pete on a daily basis.

So smile, all be aware you may be on candid camera.

gdfatha, I'm not afraid of a camera on this trip, my wife will be with me the whole time ( even if it involves t!tty bar :D ) - so, there will not be evidence, she will actually be an accessory to the crime.

We will be around as well, little too early to plan yet. So if Ratman is wrenching again :eek: , you can jump in with us. There should be a bunch of the local OPBA guy's out there as well.

Treasure Is. is our backyard. We run that area just about every weekend. Just look us up.
Gator, top secret launch place....St Pete Beach ramp. On the N end of the Beach there is a great ramp with parking that is hardly used. No $$ to launch & I have pulled 30' plus boats out at low tide with no problems. No too far from all the action
