I went by there yesterday on a scooter and they are open for business. I was talking to a staff person at Southernmost Motel on the Beach and they were open as well including ground floor units that were 6ft underwater. Unbelievable.
He said after replacing carpet twice when Katrina and Rita came thru they have put in ceramic tile on all ground floor units. It is true. I saw it Sat. I do know if they did the same at SM Hotel. I would ask for a second floor unit if you have a choice. Their pier is gone [ ended up on the street !! ] Pier also gone at Atlantic Shores but I doubt you will be staying there !! ] Hope that is some help.
