Towing a 40ft boat
I have not yet towed my 40ft Excaibur Hawk. Next summer, I would like to take it from Chi-town to the ozarks, and maybe down to cumberland. My truck is a 2004 F250 Crew Cab short bed 4x4 with the 6.0 powerstroke diesel. I know it has the power to pull it, but Im curious as to how it will handle and stop the boat. I believe the boat weighs 9000 lbs, and the trailer maybe 2000? What do you think?

No prob., Towed my 353 Fastech (8500plus) and add the trailer weight, w/ a 3/4 ton Burb w/ an 8.1. You don't have much more weight, stronger engine and alot more wheelbase. If your #'s are correct, your cruis'n! Enjoy, Wrink

I tow #18,000 with a 7.3 DRW 5th wheel no problem. Most importantly make sure the brakes are perfect and bearings are good with an older trailer. Rear straps are a must.
Loto is in the bible belt. A good place to relax and unwind. :eek: |

Mild- i pull my boat with an identical truck. It does fine. Make sure the brakes on your trailer work. You will need them. I think that the boat weighs a little more than 9k.

You are gonna be pulling closer to 13000 lbs. Make sure you have good trailer brakes. Get a set of airbags installed on the rear axle. Makes a world of difference. I pull 14500 with my F-350 with bags and it rides sooo nice.
P.S. You might just want to put that boat and trailer on a scale. Mine is a 36 footer on a steel trailer and it comes in at 14500 |

In the excalibur brochure it states dry weight 8500. ???????? |

Why don't you reets tell him what he needs .....like he can not tow it with a 250!!!!...Like he can not tow it with out dual wheels and hot breaks.....like pleeeeeze *****s!
