50 hours, crap its new, change the oil, run it for a day, change the oil again and go, change the valve springs at 250hours, Oh and change your drive oil, and water pump rubber thing?

Re: 500 efi
just a little due diligence here, but if I were you, I would ask for an engine print out. It will give you the correct hours, no BS, and the engines history. How many hours at what RPM, etc...

Re: 500 efi
Get a certified mechanic to pull the plugs, turn the motors by hand. You want to make sure rings are not rusted to the bore.

Re: 500 efi
I replaced my springs and lifters at 250 hours. My boat sat all last summer, this fall I turn the engine once just to relieve the stress on some spings. If I were you, I'd plan on replaceing the springs sooner than latter, just because a sertain amount of them have been compressed that long.
Of course I'm no engine builder, and I could be all wrong. |
Re: 500 efi
Some People Say To Pull The Injectors And Have Them Checked Because Often They Will Stick...is This Necessary ....i Know The Boat Well..he Is A Friend

Re: 500 efi
It's not a big deal to do it. It would give you piece of mind. And possibly avoid any bad feelings between friends if somthing happened.
Do as much as you can to confirm the engine is good, and keep your friend. |
