P-38 ??

I was doing some Sunday morning shopping and stumbled on this:
http://www.offshoreonly.com/esvon/page-7479.html

I never new this existed. Always liked the P-29. But, 38...

Looks like a clean ride.

Notice in the ad, it has a "MERCERATOR" - is that in reference to the bravo drives?? :D

Is this a "one-off"?

Nice looking boat.

Re: P-38 ??

Tim, it sure looks factory. I don't know if it is factory or a re rig, but it looks very well executed. Joe Murray

Looks like a real clean package for the price.

bouyhunter 11-27-2005 07:44 AM

Re: P-38 ??

Yeah, it does look factory. If it isn't, it's a helluva one-off job.

Figure, for a $buck and a quarter...hmm
The P-29's I'm seeing are asking $70.
An extra (almost) 10 feet, twins...
Looks like a good deal for someone.

I'm getting close to "pulling the trigger", I just don't have enough friggin' bullets.

Re: P-38 ??

yes it is a factory built boat. i asked the owner once about it. VERY cool piece. i think he also said they also made a P-43 as well. there are 2 p-29's running the river up here, cant mis 'em  .

Too Old 11-27-2005 09:53 AM

Re: P-38 ??

The owner is a forum member. He posts mostly in the tech forum. He takes great care of the boat and recently spent a good bit on upgrades. New sea strainers, pressure relief valves, offshore pick-ups, intercoolers etc.

I really like the boat. :)

Re: P-38 ??

No bouy, that would be a device that chews up waste in the head so it is easy to pump out, it is a macerator, correct spelling. Must not have had spell check in that ad. :D

bouyhunter 11-27-2005 02:00 PM

Re: P-38 ??

I just thought it was a very interesting boat, I never knew such a beast even existed.
Great looking - seems to be very clean.
Apparently Fred, you've had some dealings with the owner.

Dave, I remember one P-29 running up there, it was a few years ago, but I ran along with him once (or I tried to  ).
They are sharp boats.

I kinda have my heart set on an old Cig, just poking around and seeing what else is out there.

Mitch - yeah, I know he meant Macerator - I just thought it was funny, the mis-spelling.

Websters Dictionary Mercerator (n), - Demolishes Bravo drive gears.

There is just something funny about that.

You Cigarette guys are relentless. :D

While I too like Top Guns, not EVERYONE want's one. [blasphemy!]

The P-38 is pretty unique and offers a few amenities that a Top Gun doesn't. While that probably wouldn't matter to the Cigarette faithful, it might to others.

If everyone had a Top Gun, would they still have the same cache? ;)

That was a steal on that particular boat.

I always shop hard.In June, I wasn'table to buy a decent 1999 Top Gun at $125,000 which is what I was offering. Sellers were holding out for $140,000 plus.

SoI found a smokin deal on an '01 Formula and enjoyed it forthe summer.
You're right, there's always deals out there, but not always on the boat you're looking for.

I never saw anything about that boat until it was sold. I would have made a quick purchase at 100k. :(

Anyway, I looked at this 38 in Havasu once. One hall of a nice boat! Park a Cig next to it and I think the P-38 might get more attention. :drink:

At the ramp!

Justin's Scarab is tight. The motors sound healthy with the new intercoolers and smaller pulley set up. The P-38 paint scheme is unique and factory painted. Great dash detail, also. Snatch her up, if anyone is looking.

What a shame! I though I'm the only one that had a wife like that! She can't chase off my daughters freinds though. :drink:

Re: P-38 ??

JJONES - it really is a nice looking ride. I never knew they made a 38 version with the 29 scheme.
I thought the misspelling was funny and had to point it out - it wasn't a jab at your boat. I think if you were trying to run 1000 hp in front of a Bravo, MERC-erator could be a good definition for the motor (I'm only refering to Bravo's). Oh hell, somewhere in that statement I'm gonna pizz somebody off..

Good luck selling her.

Hey Glassdave - I meant to answer your question about that "situation" with the ex's family earlier.
I'll shoot ya message or give you a call tomorrow.
Tim
