I will make you a deal, lets put my 1350 HP Sterlings into it, put some big props on it and I will let you and Randy take it out and see what it does. Watching those videos with you and Randy in KW and seeing those big cats blow over in Quatar at 130 MPH got my attention.

BTW, sounds like MTI does not need me for bragging rights, a canopied boat (CRC) with 750 HP motors running in excess of 160 MPH is very impressive.

Damn, these speeds are faster than most have expereinced in a car, on a stable surface no less.

Thought - Could these quotes be documented by the insurance industry? Used against us in the future? :eek:

Can someone explain to me why some insurance companies just flat won't insure Cats? Even making it expensive would be attractive to most as long as it's available. I would think if they offered it they could make alot of money. Of course there are going to be accidents and claims as a result. But, 4-5 accidents vs. say 500 insured boats is a way better ratio compared to the hundreds maybe thousands of car, home, bike, fatalities or injuries they pay out on every year.

Wouldn't is seem more logical to ban motocycle insurance purely by the number of them out there coupled with the amount of deaths each year?

Just wondering. Seems like there's money to be made on their end.

I think you pretty well summed it up, I know we all like to brag about having a fast boat, but safety is the most important matter to all of us. I do not like seeing any boat accident because it makes the news and it gives the insurance people a reason to go up on our rates. I was at SOTW this year along with 42 MTI and others from E Dock, I can assure that accident did not have to happen, but it did and it left a lasting impression on me.

One last thing, I never claimed to know everything, if you read one of my first post, I asked the question, why do you want to go that fast in a boat without a canopy. JC Perf answered a canopy was not going to save you, I replied it would not hurt.

No offense taken, lets all be safe out there then we can all go to the bar that evening after a day on the water and tell stories on each other, who has the fastest and baddest boat prettiest wife, girlfriend or mistress and generally have one good time.

Be honest with you, that is the biggest kick I get out of all this are the people I have met and all the BS that goes around at the bar in good fun after a day of boating (safe boating).

Btching about a guy that will run 178 is going to raise your insurance is weak. I guarantee you there is ten times the payout by insurance companies to slow azz boats that kill people because a drunk is running the boat, than are paid out base purely on the speed they run. :rolleyes:

Cuda is onto something here, it seems every poker run I participate in, I make a point to meet the water cops and talk to them. The vast majority of the ones I have met tell me its not you guys in the offshore rigs they worry about, it is the locals in the pontoon boats and small run abouts who do not have a clue what they are doing.

One of the funniest things and dangerous was seeing a guy with his family in a 16 foot fiberglass boat with an outboard motor, he had a small bar b que pit on board, fired up was he was underway in the ICW with small children aboard.

Now go firure on that one.

I have been on lake george with that boat running around and been in Jacksonville PR more than a few times. I dont think it goes 178, I dont think those mills are making 1400hp on pump gas. Thats not a hack on Bill, thats just my opinion... I have been around that boat and was at Keith's shop when the motors were there. I dont think KE would tell you they are making 1400..... BigCat was running the same motors with PSI's and making 1200hp on pump and on the edge. Ah, the debate continues!!!

what does i take to prove max speed..max hp....gps and dyno sheets!!!!!!.... the picture shows 175 plus mph.....this guy is a class act and loves to talk boats.....ask for a ride.....

Just to clear up any doubts...i was present and watching the 2 gps speedos....There was no glitch on the gps,this thing went right to 178 still pulling very hard....we went 160 at 43% throttle blade...comfortably i might add.So all you doubters will just have to ask Bill for the ride of your life....it was definetely mine!

Let me clear up a few things..... if that boat was going 178 it wasnt "pulling hard", and second it definitely wasnt going 160 at 43% throttle.

I have been witness to alot of smack talk about boat speeds, especially when Sean was fiddling with cats. I have never seen Gators boat at over 140mph, not at Jacksonville on the final leg with Randy Sweers on the sticks when he was running against Jokers Wild, not when he ran with Snake eyes and when he popped a motor on lake george while running side by side with the 40 Skater. There was talk of a 160 mph run from the docks at ramp at Jacksonville to the docks for the poker run...only problem was that BruceK and I were right there putting our boat in when Bill put in and unless my Gladiator runs 145mph he wasnt going 160mph.

Better stand back, Sean says his next boat will be unreal....... he just needs to get the smoke smell out of the engines!!!!!
