90% of the reason I would even bother owning a boat is my kids.

I would go with something like a 17ft boston whaler. It's safe, not overly fast, and low maintenance. Plus I've always felt you can do a whole lot more on a boat like that than you can in a jetboat. Just my .02

My daughter loves being out and doesnt mind going about 60 or so, but she gets a little nervous when I launch it, so with her its more cruising and relaxing...

Exactly almost, we have a 15' Whaler jet. Only wish it was a little bigger, could use a little more boat under me out in the ocean.

I've been boating since I can remember, and have enjoyed going out on the boat every summer of my childhood. We bring my younger brother out too, and bring things for him to do to keep him occupied. Kids seem to enjoy it so they can play in the water, etc. I enjoy it for the scenery ...and the horsepower too. And I can assure you, my soon to be born sister will be on the water in her little Key West shirt she got.

my 4 year girl old loves it! she always wants to go out , my 10 year old girl is more into doing the pre teen girl thing , so we usually have to bring one of her friends who always thinks it's so cool then she see's it from another view.
but it's our family time and we always have a blast!

My 12 year old son went on a run with me this weekend, and was a big help, not to mention a joy to have along. He told me he couldn't sleep the night before because he was so excited about going. My Dad and Grendfather were both boaters, and I can't imagine not involving the kids. How else are we to insure the future of our hobby?
