I wouldn't bill it as a race, or liability issues will come up. How about an Oso fun run, with a Calcutta on the side for those who want to get in it. I'm thinking Daytona to St Augustine and back. (Only because I live close by :) )

150 miles round trip. Fuel available in St A.

Oh, and I'm not talking about that wimpy ICW route that the spring poker run took. I can't believe only about four boats ran on the outside.

there needs to be media coverage. how many times have you watched the LITTLE GIANT ladder on the infomercial. Everytime im flipping throught the channels it catches my eye and i watch it . did you ever watch a boat race on tv , they suck .

With all due respect,I disagree. This event has to be a race with strict rules that are enforced. We are talking about racing here, not another poker run.The UIM has a series for the big vee bottoms competing on long open ocean courses that has proven to be a success. Why not just bring that series over here? The SBI/APBA is looking to work more closely with the UIM in terms of classes, race formats etc; so the structure is already there to make it happen.Another plus would be the potential for a truley international fleet....which would make the event even more appealing to televsion, sponsors etc.Just my opinion.

Just wathed a few of those vids on the site.
Looks like some real close racing over there.
I like the coverage the choppers actually back up
and get more then one boat in the shots.
And the cameras on the stationary boats gives
a great shot as the racers come by.
