Just a real dirty boat after a day with the family and Cheetos. I am a 90 degree angle kind of person. The Baja I think gives the simplest, cleanest interior with no gimmicks. After a dirty day, just pull the carpet and hose down, instead of a weekend of scrubbing and vacuuming. IMHO, some other manufacturer's boats (especially West Coast custom shops),focus more on the paintjob, the mid cabins, tunnels to the bow, bimini, and give you a 5 liter for the engine, all for $70,000 (40K used). Plus, there is only one available if you are lucky, not the myriad of Baja models available.

One more thing. Maybe it is a Socal thing, but Baja people tend not to put 10K sound systems in their boats. Now, I am a subwoofer kind of guy myself, but I am not going to pay a premium on a used boat for it! I never find this an issue with the Baja's.

For the record, I am open to any manufacturer with clean roomy interiors, deep v deadrise (23-24), great engine options, and a decent used price and availibility. Something in my mind has to click, and so far, it is only the Baja's that have caught my eye.

Have you looked into Powerquest, Scarab, Formula, Sunsation or Checkmate?

noboat,

No to Powerquest, I will research. The 260 legend sx looks nice though, is it expensive?

Scarab 22, I don't like the crawl through cuddy. 21d deadrise not enough. Haven't looked at a Scarab 29 yet

Formula, see post above, can't seem to find what everybody is talking about (242) 1998 or above

Sunsation 288 too expensive around here (80-100K)

Checkmate 218, not enough deadrise (20d). Convincor not available anywhere around here, so haven't given thought

Keep the ideas coming though!

252 or 272... Obviously, You'l find out that there is not much $$$ difference...

232 : 7.4 MPI is OK 60-63 MPH
252 : Needs at least a 454 mag 62-65 MPH
272 : 454 mag or 502 mag. 62-68 MPH

For the family needs, you can't go wrong with a 252 or 272...

Trust me, bigger is better... :drink:

Closest Powerquest for sale is Illinois/Ohio area. See the problem? I can't even go to tale a look at some of these other boats, let alone be comfortable buying a boat 3000 miles away!

Clay Washington,

Beautiful boat. Staying away from the twins (this round :D ) I was told (by some of you) to stay away from step bottom boats (something about sliding out being a danger to the family). That is why I have not looked into the Donzi 22/28. Plus, after testing the 232 with a Deep V, I was impressed. Am I wrong on deep v versus step bottom?
