Rub Rail

Has anyone replaced the rub rail on there boat themselves, how tough of a job is it? Was the new rubrail identical with the screw holes located in the same place, and was it the same shape and mold as the old one? where is the best place to order new rubrail?

TACO or L&L....L&L buys all of TACO's older designs. It is a two man job. Use new holes for better fit and fill new and old holes with marine silicone sealer. Also buy new screws for the job. Its a pain when the old tired screw snap and you'll need to drill them out especilly if half the installation has been done. Install new rail every other hole first and NOT TOO TIGHT....you will distort the new rail with waves in it.

Good luck.....its not hard but does take practice to master.

You can also try rubrails.com

The holes won't line up with your existing ones so as stated earlier, fill the old holes with 3M 5200

It is kind of tricky....I would pay someone to do it if you haven't done it before or don't have a friend to help you that has done it before.

It's not too tough, if you have a helper.
