Re: Drive stand project.
Thanks for the compliments guys. I have a tendency to over engineer and overbuild. In a situation like this where weight is`nt a concern, this philosopy has tended to serve me well. The extra weight, in this case makes for a more stable platform so the stand can be used for doing some work on the drive as opposed to just holding it...or in some examples that I`ve seen, just barley holding it. One of the objectives that I wanted to acheive, was a low center of gravity. That is why the stand is open at the rear to allow the skeg enter the stand. This open end, and resulting loss of strength on that end, will partially explain why I used heavier tubing with additional reinforcements in its construction.
I`ll post more pictures when I get them painted and the wooden top installed.
Thanks again for the kind words.

Re: Drive stand project.
I made a drive stand out of an engine stand after I saw the one that US1 Fountain made. Here is a link to pictures of his stand that I copied.

Here is a picture of my stand. My drives are really that high and I can slide them right in by adjusting the heigth on the tongh jack as neeeded.

Re: Drive stand project.
Anyone need a custom stand to work on drives? this one I have lets you bolt the upper or lower to a plate and the handle has a 21:1 ratio gearbox to let you roll it 360 deg. and strong enough to work on drive. No clamping on the cav plate. Also an adapter for holding a BW trans to work on it. $200.
an sorry for any threadjacking here. thought of it while looking a yours. Ken
