big question
im curious i have a 2001 42 tiger with no step. if i stagger the motors would i increase any speed im looking to put a little more wait in the front it rides little heavy in the ass end .. thanks for your help in advance
but i also want more speed ya.. and staggered looks really cool...

Seems a lot of expense for minimal gain. Re-Work stringers, re-rig the whole thing, redo the transom, ect... Parking it will also be fun!!!
Also I doubt the stringer layout will easily adapt to stagger. Notwithstanding with the bulkhead space available it would only be a short stagger.
Those boats also react very adversly to moving the CG forward. Just the difference between a cover girl cabin and an extended CG cabin is 2-3 mph, all other things being equal.
From what Otis experienced also proping his boat, when the stern was higher (produced with a 5 blade prop instead of 4) the boat plowed and would not get up to speed.
For the money your talking you could easily modify your mills to 725-750 HP and get in the low to mid 80's...which in my humble opinion is the max you can put thru an XR kind of setup and have a certain amount of drive life left if your gentle to it.
Just my take on it, hope it helps.

GLH is right. Too much expense to change it over and you might not realize the performance you want.
Are you sure you REALLY have the 720 HP? Should be spinning those 28's much higher with that much juice. Why the 1.36:1 reduction?
Every boat like yours had 1.50:1 that I ever surveyed.

Seams 720 should be fine if you prop it properly.
I am not sure what my HP is but I would venture in the 670 range with a 1.5 ratio and I have seen 81.7 on GPS running 30" labbed and hitting the rev limiter at 5300. I just got some 32" and have not really tested properly but I was hitting 82.2 at around 4900 rpm.
I have also a set of pulleys to up my boost but I have not put them on yet. If with the pulley's I don't get up to 52-5300 rpm, I will have Trottle up labbed the 32"s and should be as good as I can think for the power. My guess is 83-84 max and I can live with that... With my rig I find I pass a LOT more people at 60-65MPH in the sh!t than at 82 on a flat boring Catamaran 6" fluff days.

Also I do not recall if you have an Extended Cover Girl cabin or not...
Make sure you have NOTHING stored in the nose of you boat, that will kill your speed on those straight bottomed Tigers.
