I actually have a 40ft Hawk, love the boat, but a little more headroom would be nice.

It's an all white 1984. Not fast but rides like a dream. 454/475hp but won't sware to it. Runs 47@4000 rpms, tops out at @ 58mph with the 4 blades a little faster with the 3 blades on the top.

Re: 80's wave crushers
Hawk 40
38KV 12M fountain like that order... but not absolutely. could change w/ a particular boat. but all of these could be nice w/ 700-750hp and konrads. |
Re: 80's wave crushers
Scarab 38 KV---- Sweet Lines
|
Re: 80's wave crushers
There is a Stinger 415 on Long Island that is mint mint. Great looking boat.

Mine runs 75mph with very mild 650HP's and IMCO drives. I wrote the boat off years ago as being slow and thought that it would never respond to updated power and drives. I was wrong. The boat has had some weight taken out of it and with mild power is a lot of fun to drive in rough water.

Re: 80's wave crushers
I know you said cigs are much more $$, but this is a nice one and seems a good deal.

Re: 80's wave crushers
course i'd be partial to the line of the s type scarabs; not much of a fan of the flat deck boats. its gotta be said though that the rigging of the wellcrafts and chris crafts and formulas generrally needs to be brought up to a better standard along with hull deck attachment. that's what make for great projects though.

Re: 80's wave crushers
What speeds could you expect out of an old 38 Flat Deck Cig with the 454's? Thats alot of boat for the price.

Re: 80's wave crushers
Figured youd have to run some BIG power to move that thing. I'd guess the weight to be around 10K. Definately a wave crusher.
|
Re: 80's wave crushers
Ex Harwk 40 were you and your son down at LOTO , If so I think I talked to him at shooters. Beutiful old boat, I'm partial to the ols shcool look myself, with a 79 Scarab 300 , also a tank.

Re: 80's wave crushers

But like i said a pair of 750na w/ konrads would be the way to go. Probably top out around 75ish, but cruise all day at 55-60 in anything you want. |

Just remember.............everything is for sale always. :drink: I also have a 1990 Silverton 34 Express. Very slow but also a wave crusher. And it has all the comfort of home. :D

Re: 80's wave crushers
Thanks for the kind words, I am very proud of the boat.
Trick, there are quite a few of your parts in the boat. |
Re: 80's wave crushers
EH40 , i have looked through your photo album several times , really great job on her ........
|
Re: 80's wave crushers
Exhaewk 40 , thanks. yeah I was surprized myself, we thought that it slowed down . They clocked me at 89.9, makes me wish I had run race gas and took the cover and tools out of it. Hopefully we make it this year but only if I pick up at least 5mph, we are doing some major surgery. the hull was very broken when we made that run.

Re: 80's wave crushers
38' kv is my choice. The boat is bad azz and still has great style/lines today agianst the new boats. I might own one after i make my scale baywatch scarab with Pamela Anderson riding on it with me~

Re: 80's wave crushers
our 375 was great in the rough. wide 9 ft beam too. heavy boat. but some of the interior contruction and hardware wasnt up to a beating like the hull. i must say tho that there is a big difference in the ride of the 375 that weighed around 12 and the 42 cig that weighs around 16. my guess is a formula would be the best all around rough water crusher on ur list.
|
Re: 80's wave crushers
even though it's not on the list i have to say CIGARETTE and a 38 scarb

Re: 80's wave crushers
I need to hunt around for a picture of our 86 40' Scarab with a raised deck, great party cockpit. For those of you on Lake St Clair it was around the area forever, it was named Vise Versa. We sold it to someone in Chicago right before we got active on OSO and the boat seemed to disappear
