What ever happened to Chief Boats?

I checked the brand forums, but nothing in the Chief or AT forums for a while. Are they still partnered with AT? Building boats, or not?

Winter sucks. :(

Re: What ever happened to Chief Boats?

I know Pat is still building boats, they have had a rough year with their son who has cancer, I do not know all the particulars, but our thoughts and prayers go out to them.

Just a note - I'm not trying to cause a ruckus (if I wanted to do that, I'd just use the "A" word  ). Just curious as there was a lot of hype/talk/rumor mill stuff on Chief, its personnel, the relationship with Bobby Saccenti (and Stinson, and Boatme, and Pat at AT, etc etc) and now not a peep for quite a while.

If they are not done, it sure is an odd way to market a new company.

On a whim, I tried calling the number on their website (www.chiefpowerboats.com) and just got a fast busy signal. :(

Sad but true... maybe Sunsation can snap up the molds for the 280 and 320 Suncruiser models. A big dayboat/sport cruiser with the Sunsation styling and attention to detail is just what Momma ordered.... :D

Funny, a while back guys were recommending Chief boats
on a few threads. I replied, asking how they could recommend
a boat that wasnt even built yet. I was basically told that the
builders reputations were enough. Sorry, performence boat
builders come and go like the wind, I'll stick with the builders
that have been around for a while.

The Chief guys still buy parts and pay their bills. Bobby calls and orders and we send him whatever he asks for. Always a gentleman to deal with. ;)

Yep, which size are you looking at buying this spring? We've got new boats in stock!

Re: What ever happened to Chief Boats?

I'd *love* a 37' with side by side bolsters, Millenium cabin, and 525's matched with the Merc ITS. Graphics like the red 28' I've been drooling over on the AT site.

Stick it on a Myco and I'll be down with my life savings of $2.37 to pick it up once the snow melts! :D

Actually, I figured AT was building boats, but I had read somewhere (here maybe) that AT was no longer associated with Chief. This stuff is awfully hard to keep straight.....

I am suprised he didn't post an answer to the question as they are said to be in partnership with Cheif. Something doesn't seem right. :(

Re: What ever happened to Chief Boats?

OK.....I heard through the " RUMOR MILL" and I stress RUMOR MILL.....that CHIEF was done and everything will be ACTIVE THUNDER........again........so before anyone goes nutso.......just info passed on third party. I would also assume that CHIEF reps would have responded directly to this thread with accurate information on the company by now.

Re: What ever happened to Chief Boats?

There is no merger between Active Thunder and Chief. It was and is a marketing marriage. Plain and simple: If you want a 28/33/37/42/47 (47 still under development) foot boat built with a quality hull and some Bobby Saccenti influence and craftsmanship; you get ahold of Bobby & Chief Powerboats.

Pat/AT still builds/sells/markets 28/33/37 foot boats just like always.

So, what is a 42' Chief worth with it being a one-off and maybe no company behind it? Tough to sell.
