Older Hulls

Are there any reasons to shy away of purchasing an older hull, lets say around 1988, 89?? Does the hull loose its integrity at all??
Thanks

I'd have to say it depended on who built it.

I've got a 73 that continues to be surveyed flawlessly. Every time I hear "Wow. They just don't make them like this anymore." Then again, not many 28 foot boats these days come in at 7,000 LBS.

that's the only way for me to have a big boat without a loan! Sometimes I think new boat but as soon I think big payment, the new boat idea goes away... and it comes back!

i have a 79 cig mistress i rerigged last fall and there was no rot or soft spots anywhere in the boat! not a stress crack anywhere and i launch it like im trying to go into orbit every time i take it out. hard to beat old school cigs and apaches for rocksolid boats

A quality hull that has been properly stored and maintained should be fine.

Over the past few years I had an 85 Cigarette and an 89 Skater. Both of them had outstanding, sound hulls.

As others pointed out, get a survey.
