Boating Magazines

I'm sure many of you subscribe to boating mags. I do, in fact, more than I have time to check out, and I even get Yachting magazine and I never ordered it

What do you guys do with your old magazines? Do you pitch them after a certain period of time, or do you save them? When the new bedroom furniture gets here, I will have to "liquidate" my mags from the bedroom, not sure if I should keep them or pitch.

I used to save all my Car & Drivers when I subscribed and lived at home with ma & pa, but wound up giving them out to a friend who was collecting them when I moved to an apartment, had no room, and they said get this crap outta my basement.

Anyway, what do you guys do with your old boating mags? If you save them, is there any value to doing so? Or is it just for reference material?

Must be a winter project for a lot of us. I'm currently breezing thru them looking for anything worth remembering and then pitching them in the trash. At my beloveds urging.

I've got years and years of Powerboat and Hot Boat. You looking for anything in particular Marky Marc??? LOL!!!!!

traviss 01-30-2002 07:53 PM

I have about 5yrs of hotboat, boating, lakeland boating, powerboat and a few truck mags.... I'll say my closet is full  I find it nice to be able to look back and find a article and tips.. :D

Risk Taker 01-30-2002 08:14 PM

I usually keep them around (boating mags, golf mags, home improv mags, etc.) for a few months, then cut out any articles that I want to keep, and throw the rest out. I keep notebooks by topic for the articles....definitely cuts down on the clutter..... :) :)

Hey 32Fever....I heard they have this great magazine about guys who paid for bigger boats and got smaller ones.....

Oh I'm sorry I was thinking about the Fountain owner's manual......

I save all my powerboats, and have for over 10 years. There has been several times someone I know has wanted an artice about a boat they bought, or were thinking about buying. It's been nice having them.

Save all of mine, Powerboat and Hotboat since 1997. Great source of info on the 29- 32ft boats that they tested. (they are starting to get in my price range).

I save all of mine except Family and Performanc Boating because there are none to save. They have my money but I'm tired of their promises and no delivery.

Does anybody have anything on the 2oth anniversary edition 42 lightning? Just bought one (new) leftover. It would be cool to see it in a magazine

Thanks Daryl

I save mine and National Dragster, Super Chevy, ETC... Then the wife has all of those house mags as well. Use to be cool but I am starting to ask myself after 40 plus years of accumulation where does it stop. How many times do I actually look at them and is it worth saving for the additional storage and mess it potentially creates. Anyway, I tried to throw them away a couple of times and my hand started to sweat as I moved towards the trash can. It is not easy being a pack rat and High Performance Junky. Have a nice day.

I save Powerboat, Hot Boat and Poker Runs (at least I will if the subscription really comes through). The others (Boating, MotorBoating, PMY) I cut out the articles I want and throw out the rest. I'm thinking about donating the ones I didn't cut up to my Power Squadron's library.

HavasuCat 01-31-2002 01:19 PM

I save all my issues of Hot Boat and Powerboat, as well as a few other boating mags. I have them filed in order by date.

Milord 01-31-2002 01:37 PM

Ive got lots of them around, 3 or 4 yrs of Powerboat, almost every Hotboat in the same period and every Fam/Perf, every once in awhile I'll get bored and go grab a stack of six or so from a few yrs back and they're like new issues!! This is an immatation of my wife when I do this

WILDTHING TAZ 02-01-2002 10:10 PM

MILORD I LIKE YOUR STYLE :)

I've never seen it , but I think we should take the old ones to the doctors office so we have some thing to look at while we in the waiting room. Of corse, I probably won't go to the examine room when they call my name or one of the kids name. But it would be cool to have something worth looking at! :)

traviss 02-02-2002 12:37 AM

always when I have a appointment and have to wait.. I make sure I bring my HOTBOAT or POWERGOAT.. :D :D :D People bring up weird conversations when they see you reading these mags. :D :D

28Eliminator 02-02-2002 12:59 AM

Especially Powergoat, Really, they don't even think this type of Magazine even exist. I guess we are in a class of our own, at least, in our own minds. :D

gslinger 02-02-2002 10:52 PM

They for a good reference library in the future.
