Quick release hubs
I was looking at my interior the other day trying to figure out how to lay things out. I noticed that access to my bolsters was going to be real hard no matter how I put them in. Anyone tried the quick release? Any problems, likes, dislikes. I was thinking it could even be a little bit of a theft deterent.
Thanks Jon |
Re: Quick release hubs
I always throw one on whatever the flavor of the month is. Personally, I like them.
|
Re: Quick release hubs
Fred, will they fit all applications?
|
Re: Quick release hubs
I got one for Christmas. Along with a blue Isotta wheel.
Fred the quick release hub is polished and the release levers are red. Can the color of the release levers be changed? The red seems a bit much with the blue wheel. Thanks, Neil |
Re: Quick release hubs
Fred or anyone else. My concern is something along the lines of a big impact and then they fall off. You know like the old CHIPS tv shows :D :D . They would really make a wonderfull improvement to the bolster as long as I am comfortable with the safty/reliability.

Thanks a bunch Fred. I knew you'd take care of it. I'll send the red ones back when the blue ones come in so I put the blue ones on correctly. :drink:  Thanks, Neil Hamilton |

Re: Quick release hubs
Thanks for the info guys. Looks like it will be the solution when the time comes. The trailer gets put back together next weekend and then back at it again. I had to step away for a while but I have a fresh pile of ruined cloths to get at it again. Stay tuned :evilb: :evilb:

Hitting the boat project again soon? Enjoyed that project.
Figured it was on the back burner behind the new house. |

Fred, what is the price for CMI mufflers for dry exhaust to slide on here?
|
Re: Quick release hubs
Mufflers for dry exhaust are a problem. CMI is developing a muffler for that application, but I'm not sure they're available yet.
The GGB Extremes are the only muffler I know of that works with dry pipes. I have them at a nice discount but will have to look it up tomorrow and shoot you a PM. I'll also call CMI and see if theirs is ready yet and what the cost will be. |
Re: Quick release hubs
Thanks Fred. I thought I had read somewhere they had them available. I'll look for the PM.
Thanks, Neil |
Re: Quick release hubs

Just investigating. The dry pipes are "reversion" worry free... Wouldn't change it for anything. I t wouldn't hurt my ear drums to contain the volume a bit though. We'll see what Fred comes up with. :drink: :drink: Fred, Please include photos with the price quote. Thanks, Neil. [email protected] |

Re: Quick release hubs
The CMI's are still in testing. They'll be available in a few months, but are not ready yet. [dry exhaust version.]
Has anyone checked the GGB's on dry exhaust with a decible meter? I'm constantly asked that question and don't have any real world information to provide them. Fred |
Re: Quick release hubs
Thanks Fred. I got your PM.
May hold off for now and see what CMI comes up with. I'm purchasing new xr's soon and need to be sure that will go off without a hitch. A couple of questions: Is there a plug or something to fill the hole in the transom that the old neumatic muffler closers consume? Obviously won't need those anymore. How is HP's effected? Are you familiar with the variation of sound with dry before and after mufflers? |
