42 Fountain hands down! Before you all start discrediting me for being a one post wonder I am qualified. I have driven my buddies 42 legacy and been on my brothers old Top gun(38 ts) I would pick a staggard 42 lighning in the rough anyday of the week. By the way we smoked a 39 unlimited in a stag 42 fountain in big water(3-5). Those people that have comments on Fountains vs this brand or other brands need a day of test drives on each to qualify there comments and opinions. I appreciate the quality of all and I am not a front runner by any means. Those that think a 42 lightning doesnt crush large swells and give a comfortable ride while doing so need to get there head examined. I'm tired of hearing chit from the cig and Ol guys about " Reggie this and Reggie that" You ever notice that the Fountain guys never knock other products yet everyone else that doesnt own a Fountain knocks their product? Why is that?

I'd choose the Nortech first and the OL 2nd and it's not because one is faster than the other or brand loyalty.

1. 43 Nortech, lots of room in the cabin, wide beam, does really well in the rough, good speed for power, size and weight. Solid construction without all the light weight coring mumbo jumbo...

2. 42 OL Legacy, wouldn't want the Epoxy though, good cabin space, superior construction/rigging and attention to detail.

If all I wanted was speed, I'd get a cat.

The only 43 boat I have driven is my 43 Scarab . So I will go with that as it is a proven performer . Not as fast as all the other but just as sexy in my opinion .

42' SeaRay will have a smoother ride.

In the 42' range, I'll take the Fountain 1st.
Drop down to the 38' range, then I'll go Cig.

Well said. Proven on the last Chicago Poker Run in 6-8's. 80 boats and only 23 ran the first half. Skater's, MTI's, 43 NT (Jass's old boat), 37 AT, Cigs and 2/3 of the rest did not make it and turned around. Why if all ride so great? Can handle anything if you read OSO.

Gators 47 OL, 42 Tiger, and a few Fountains were ahead as I arrived 8th with measly staggered 525's. The 38 and 39 Guns did nothing spectacular with the big power and were flyin all over the place along with Vic's 38 Formula and 700's. I know, I watched them, I was there. Maybe they didn't want to hammer hard ok, but for the money you pay you might as well play. Funny hearing this and that all the time about ride and hallover inlet....blah blah blah. What a joke. That little 38 Shogren race boat with 525's was right in there with the 47OL and 1075's. Gator's was impressive flew level and was clearly 1st but 800-900k should get you there. Just ck out any of the recent mags for pix of the run. Everything was out of the water.

Fountain guys don't knock others because we don't feel that we have to thump our chest and be cool over the internet. Granted the rigging and eye candy will beat Fountain, I'll admit to that but were not paying for it either.

It's funny, someone posted a Cig is better than OL because they have made more boats and learned by any mistakes along the way. Really? I'll agree on that.

Custom is cool, custom is the big league at the docks. No question about that. Out in tough seas is where it's at, not sitting behind a keyboard.

End of story. Have a nice day.

43 Black Thunder, no hesitation. No where else can you get a 100mph boat that seats six in stand-up bolsters plus four more across the back. You can also have your 6'8" tall friend stand up and walk around in the cabin, mess around in a queen size bed (with your girl, not your 6'8" friend), take a shower, turn on the air, watch tv, cook dinner, then haul back to port at 100 again. I also believe Saxman's 43 was only beat by OL's at LOTO this year. No Fountains, Nortech's, or Cigs were as fast.

Some of you guys feel differently about a poker run vs others. No problem with that. I'm not into impressing anyone, I go for the fun, and mainly the cause that pertains to that poker run. There will always be some one who is bigger, faster and more expensive. Each to their own, beat your own chest on which boat rides the best in the rough. Thank God we all have choices, see ya guys next year. Jeff
