See, this is where I have a bit of a problem.

So,
My "Brand New" (let's just say..) $280,000 boat, has already been to two or three Poker Runs - Driven by the dealer.
Now, a poker run isn't a race, but, said dealer sure doesn't want his boat to show poorly. How hard has my "Brand New" boat been run during the break-in period??
Is there a depreciation for this? I think there has to be.
In my opinion, this has just become a USED boat. It has been run (not just test driven), it has likely had a drink spilled in it, and it has seen more than 10 hrs. (i'm pulling the 10 hrs. outta my wutza, but, for a comparision to a road vehicle...).

I'm not feeling real bad for the dealers right now - "Where else can you take out your inventory,show it off,run a few pokerruns and still make money?".

Everyone else pays for the luxury of doing this sort of thing.

It's a badazz looking boat, and I also can't stand these 6-7 tone paint jobs.

Donzi makes a great boat. I'd take a 33 ZX or Daytona.
Classy rides, and still performs.

I am sure there are huge margin swings between builders and even within a given builder. I agree that prices are out of control.

If you looked at the same magazine with the 42 OL review, they were changing almost $3K for sculptured carpet (must have a little profit in that!). That particular boat listed for almost $1M and was for sale (a few pages back) for $570K. As it is always said, you have to pay to play.

Back to the 43' Donzi, I really like the looks of the boat and was very impressed with the speed it hit with triple 525s. Great job Donzi!

You would have to be a dumb a$$ to buy a new boat from a dealer that was not a new boat. A Poker run is not a demo, I would not buy one unless it was new. Factory testing only, would you spend that much for a dealer to dog your boat out at a poker run?

I really think that when I, a new boat dealer show up at a pokerrun, we bring our latest/greatest products to show off to the public. I have never dogged a boat at an event. They are not races,they are for friends/dealers,companies,sponsors all to participate and have a fun,safe weekend. If a demo has been run @ an event it is usually discounted even more. We pay a big premium just to afford the luxury of showing up at an event. Our boats are very expensive and we pay our sponsor fees to show/demo/ our boats at events. We all enjoy boating but some of us have to make a living at it.Let's face it boats are expensive,but the bottom line is,you get what you pay for!
