Very nice!!! I love the lines of that boat.

I'd be willing to bet that it could be bought for alot less than the retail #.

So, could it be bought for $300K (30% off)? Just wondering what deals people are getting on the market.

Boomer, how much mark-up do you think there is on a boat? Let me ask ,what do you do for a living? And would you sell anything for cost? That's really what you are asking. Boat dealers spend tons of monies promoting their product lines and we get really no help from manufacturers. Deals are not what they were years ago,and dealers do not make what they did back then. I'm not trying to single you out,I just wondered if you build a house, have 250k in it,would you give it away???? Deals are made on very skinny margins,we take trades, and we sit on them. What is a reasonable margin to allow a dealer to make........and if you owned a dealership, what would you/your sales people take? It's very hard to get 10-12% today.........do you think you could afford to stay in business w/low margins? I know when I go buy anything, there is no discount.........why do boat dealers have to give it away to get a deal?

i think he was talking about what the real price was and not the printed retail.... nobody pays the retail prices printed in magazines.

I was just wondering what is the real world price. I see on OSO people saying they got 20-40% off the MSRP. I have no idea as to how much margin is in a new boat price... that's why I asked.

I seem to have struck a nerve with you! The boating market is tough right now, so deals are probably lower on margin.

I am in the service/vendor side for the pharmaceutical industry. No, I would not do a deal for little or no margin; however, I would work at a lower margin for a bigger deal (e.g. $425K)!

If you think you will get full retail for a boat, then I wish you the best of luck... you can alway ask for top $$ and see if the buyer will bite.

The industry is very slow right now. Consumers can buy @20% off, thats easy, but that last 10% is more than most dealers get. If a dealer sits on a boat more than 2-3 mts.it's hard to make a profit. Expenses, interest, shipping, all come off the top.......I don't expect anyone to pay anywhere close to retail especially for a 4-600k boat. Dealers should make good money on every deal, but we seldom do. If it was easy everyone would do it. Most of us make a living ,but it's more of a passion. Where else can you take out your inventory, show it off,run a few pokerruns and still make money? A nerve wasn't struck, just needed to clarify a few things......we all do what we can to earn the business, but we still need to make a living. I hope everyone has a safe New Year's eve!
