Nortech 3600 Supercat

Looking for some objective opinions on the subject Boat ( no specific boat, but might be contemplating buying used) as to the handling capabilities, overall manufacturing quality of the boat, any stupid things it may do such as porpoising and etc.

Also the most important question, is why are there so many one and two year old 3600 Nortechs boats for sale????? Are they that bad or is insurance the problem ????

Re: Nortech 3600 Supercat

You definately want to speak to "Gatorone" here on the board. He has owned two of them.

The last was over 170+ MPH and I think that alone speaks volumes for the boat overall.

I had the pleasure of getting to ride in his at close to 135MPH and as a backseat passenger I did not notice any bad handling characteristics. Of course he really knows how to drive them also.

Personally I think that is probably the best cat on the market right now.

I'm sure Gatorone will be glad to answer all your questions.

Re: Nortech 3600 Supercat

Well built boats, high quality.

One short ride in one only (2003) and I can tell you awesome.

Skaters are faster IMHO but the Nortech has a more comfortable cockpit vs a 36 Skater.

Insurance on cats is going up period.

Ins can be a negative, but its not neccesary to have. Mine may be up for sale soon because I want more power. Im also looking at just upgrading the engines. The cockpit is much more comfortable and roomier then any other cat in its size range which is the reason we got it. its heavier then a skater, but handles rough water amazingly. Its the best buy for a performance boat.

Lostinboston,

Why do you think so many New Boats are For Sale when they are only one or two years old ???

I drove one earlier last year (05) with Randy from fastboats throttling. The boat had 725's with #6's, very nice package as far as reliability and speed, and it handled incredible. I have heard only good things.

When it comes down to it, its like anything else there is always room for upgrade. Of coarse the 3600 Nortech is a great cat but its not the top cat so like anything else someone just gets the itch and wants to upgrade and get a bigger cat or a faster one, not because they just hate the boat. 3600cat also has a very nice Nortech for sale right now I would say check his out.

Basically what rasta said. A lot of people upgrading, either size, power etc. And also a lot of dealer inventory. And maybe some people get in over their head.

Nor Tech is a great boat. Mine is straight in the tunnel I know some of the bigger cats have some hooks. All the 3600s I've seen are straight and one 5000. They do porpis from 65 to 85 but so do Skaters and every other cat except ONE. (place your own SeanH comment here) :D But the ride in rough water, high speed, and just normal 100mph running is great. Mine is forsale because 200+ mph Turbine MTI is on my to do list!! :D :evilb:

Mine is in the classifieds and is the very best deal. :D

I will say that is a LIE!! And prove it. I would love to ride in the boat anytime. Frank Lindeberry says his 3600 don't do it with 16.25 props also but I haven't tried or seen it. With #6s

i think alot are for sale because they have not depreciated ... they came out in 02 and have not built that many from 02-04... 05 production is more that 02-04 combined(i think).. so supply and demand i guess... i think most first time buyers r upgrading

They don't porpoise with SSM 6s either.

i have been in 32, 36, 40 and 46 skaters, they all have had a "hop" in them at around that speed....

Re: Nortech 3600 Supercat

For all who don't own a 3600 Nor Tech they don't porpoise if your under hard acceleration. But if you roll up on it slow they do.
