Looking for 28p 4 blade props

I'm looking to experiment with props on my 34 PQ Vyper with 496 Mag HO's. Currently I have Bravo 1's and am interested in finding some labbed props that will give it the most mph for the $$$.

Anyone selling some good to great condition props (preferablly labbed)? Hydromotive, Merc, or others... like I said I'm trying to experiment.

stingray 01-31-2002 09:29 AM

Dave, you looking to enhance the aerodynamics of that windscreen over say, a couple of other windshield types???... :D ;)

Rick

DONZIMAN2 01-31-2002 09:56 AM

Dave we sure are getting cocky now that we have both engines potentially operating correctly. LOL.. I hope she does well when you get her out. Good luck!!

BillR 01-31-2002 11:21 AM

Correction: For Hydromotive you need a pair of 27p. The Hydros are more agressive on pitch. This info is from Hydromotive.

Plus he ain't gonna pass my boat!
BTW: Teague Marine has some close out on Mach props real cheap. Just got thier catalog!

Vyper340 01-31-2002 11:34 AM

Pass your boat... puhlease. It's all gonna come down to weight and I think those sea strainers are gonna be the straw that breaks the camels back... LOL

Have we all recovered from the bashing of December and are we ready for a fightin' February? LOL :D

stingray 01-31-2002 02:16 PM

This warm weather we've had lately and the approx. 6 weeks or so to go before some consistent boating kicks in, is startin' to wake everyone back up... :D

Sounds like the "Vyper Squad" will be quite entertaining to watch this spring... ;)

I would think that Hydromotives being a stern lift prop (raker-style) would exagerate chinewalking up on speed and potentially provide blow out coming out of the hole or going into a turn??

Rick

BillR 01-31-2002 02:32 PM

Rick,
Your right, on my old boat the Hydros would slip some just as it came over on plane, but after that; watch out, it was fast!
Turns sucked though!!

But with twin engines, who knows? could be good!

But then again; Scooter know who will be in the lead. :D :D :D

Plus the windshild is like a spoiler. It diverts the air over the cockpit, making for a better aerodynamic profile. Windscreen allows all that air to be trapped in the cockpit kinda like what happens with a pick-up truck.

Now THAT sounds good, huh!?

DONZIMAN2 01-31-2002 02:52 PM

Reck/Bill, I think PQ may have a chance now that he has upgraded to twin engines!! LOL. You windshield guys better look out. Looks like the Donzi in the club is a 28ZX with Twin 350 Mags. That will probably be the only Donzi you have to follow this year. SEE YA!

BryanTuvell 01-31-2002 03:03 PM

Yep, time for Feb... Dave I got your stuff and plan to update the website Friday night, you will be boat of the month, the only requirement is that your boat run, and I hear she is fixed! CONGRATS! I know your happy.

Dave, you didn't get sea strainers? Is that the only difference in the boats?
Also, Bay Propeller will let you take props out as long as you leave a Credit Card number etc. I believe Jon B did it there and he offered to do it fo me to when I had my Bravo I done there.

And as always, the king of winterization (me)came by today, we are again layed up for colder weather. Next year I will buy anti-freeze by the drum!!!
Can't wait to see everyone at like our opening season gig... I will be there for sure.
Again, congrats Dave.
See ya'll tomorrow.

Oh, and the new Donzi guy told me today he runs mid to upper 70's, 1999 28ZZX T350 mags.
I put his pic on the site and I will also update his data tomorrow evening. Kinda cool working with a guy in the club who loves to boat. Of course he will have to work more than I! LOL

Bill that analogy sounded waaaayy to scientific... :)

How's this: Wouldn't the wind over the cockpit creating the suction like the pickups BENEFIT a boat by helping give lift out of the water giving less hull surface and therefore allowing for faster speeds...

Hey, love to see the 28 Donzi. Bryan, is this the guy you were talking to last year prior to the AOTH run out to Cumberland? Where's he from?...

Rick

BryanTuvell 01-31-2002 05:04 PM

No, different guy, owned by two Type "A" LT's no kids...

He is our new Ops Admin bubba...

Boat is kept at Sinset Marina, he is moving it to Portsmouth, I will grab him on my way out of Waterside most likely everytime there is a gig.
An email went out to the group, his picture is on page 6 of the members section.

Vyper340 01-31-2002 06:02 PM

Good one Rick! I like your scientific explanation better than Bill's. Besides, us windscreen guys have to stick together.

Boat ran AWESOME today! FINALLY!!!

Still would like to try other props to see the differnce on this hull. :D

Vyper340 01-31-2002 06:03 PM

Oh yeah! Why are only HRPA people responding to this f***ing post??? Come on let others have a chance... LOL :D

Vyper340 01-31-2002 06:05 PM

I almost forgot. Bob that was a good one too! The upgrade to twins was definetly the ticket! :D

BryanTuvell 01-31-2002 07:08 PM

Vyper340, it will be a cool season, come on Spring.... We are excited as all you new PQ guys are, we just hit 27 hours.

The first run or two the entire club will be WOT, it will be interesting to see who is consistant in many areas, us guys live on bragging rights and I know you THINK you have them cornered... :) Like runs even when the water is big, etc, beaching is easy a mile from the barn, it was tough last year for us in the 22ZX being the smallest boat going in the biggest water, you guys cruised and my nuts were blue!! I scared myself on occassion.Lets Rock Dave! I look forward to running with the triplets...

Bryan. I have tested the 28ZX many, many times The top speed you will get out of her 1/4 tank is between 68-71 tops.. The 28 Scorpion runs 77mph gps. I always take my gps when I test a boat. I love when salesman tell me they run low 80s like the Scorpion and I pull out my GPS and it registers 77 on top at 5200. Unless he supercharges those 350s he wont touch mid 70s thats for sure. I have seen a 26ZX keep up with a 28.

BryanTuvell 01-31-2002 07:24 PM

Well see Frank, he is an Officer and a Gentleman, I cannot imagine a boater stretching the truth.... :)
Ted said he drove it to 77....

How are ya bro.. tell Melissa Hi for me.

Did you mail the prop?
Was that your motorized blender in KY? If so BRING IT! LOL
And of course treat the booze after we tie up! You the man Frank... I will be thirsty.

DONZIMAN2 01-31-2002 07:43 PM

Bryan, O&G talking SPEEDO and Frank is talking GPS.
Dave I saw you go by my house on the boat today. Congrats! It really looked great flying by. I am really glad they got it straight. I am really getting tired of looking at the empty boat lift in front of my house. Especially with this 80 Degree weather at the end of January. Bob

BryanTuvell 01-31-2002 07:55 PM

O&G WTF???

Frank Civitano 01-31-2002 08:55 PM

Bob, When is the new Boat coming! Heck my speedo use to bang the wall past 80, 77-79 is about what I would run on GPS with the 22. When I hit 82 on those few occassions I used to pop the Speedo hose right off! Then I would fill up my compartment below the steering helm with water. Bryan Geo bought the blender and my kids served!

DONZIMAN2 01-31-2002 09:01 PM

Bryan Since you are a good friend and the finest Warrant officer I have ever known since Mark and I made LDO, I will explain the acronym. O&G refers to your previous post of Officer and a Gentleman. I am attempting to compare your speed numbers to Franks calculations. Sorry if I confused anyone. LOL

DONZIMAN2 01-31-2002 09:06 PM

Frank I am not sure. You know how negotiations go. We still have some room in the middle that I feel they need to get too. If I did not own a fantastic 26ZX I may be a little more motivated. I have drawn my line in the sand on where I will be at when it is all said and done. I think they will come around. The interest rates I have been quoted are the best I have seen anywhere. It is amazing how much difference one percent makes in the big scheme of things. Talk to you soon. DMAN2

BryanTuvell 01-31-2002 09:20 PM

10-4 littly buddy, when it comes to O&G that is at work, I am neither when it is time to play hard in the Donzi. No sirs, in fact when the big boys pass me they would have to read my lips to understand I am saying FUMFLBSOB's now figure that one out!

Thanks for the QA on the AC, see ya at GQ mate!

Bryan, Melissa is just fine thanks for asking she has a black plastic thingy growing out of her ear? She has been on the phone all night! How is Nancy no lingering dolphin hickies. I love that Picture so does my son. I have ProCharger on my mind again calculating how fast the 26ZX will go with 685Hp under that hood. I figure about 85 with a 32 Pitch prop. My mind is brewing, Just a thought for now I am waiting for Melissa to throw someting at me. Procharger keeps sending me stuff! :D

BryanTuvell 01-31-2002 09:53 PM

Glad your pretty wife is fine, Nancy is fine, 60 hours in 4 days, she now has a 3 day weekend (on call!) :) her drive is incredible.

I rewinterized today, 3rd or 4th time this year, I have lost track.

I posted here originally to let Dave know you can test without buying, he has one sweet 340 PQ with a fairing!
DID YOU MAIL THE PROP TO ME???????????
Bay did a sweet job on mine, well worth the money, I saw Chad is offering to do'em for $100....

Frank Civitano 02-01-2002 05:53 AM

Bryan, No I still have the prop up stairs, I will get it down this weekend. Whipple is a nice unit, I will let Andy from Typhoon make the judgement call on what to use, He likes both, I had great luck with the Procharger and I know of a few more there is a guy with a 500 efi Procharged Kryptonite that runs low 100s, If the new one gives me the reliability of the old one I will be happy, But it all depends on how I run it, I just want to cruise at 65-70 and when the big boys hammer I can keep up.

BryanTuvell 02-01-2002 06:06 AM

Sounds great Frank....
I will call ya this weekend to catch up.

Hey DAVE, what did you name your boat?
See ya at happy hour...
Bryan
