We are assembling a whole section, just for the many Don Aronow photos we have to show, on our website. |
Re: Save the Old Race Boats
Charlie I thought that Don only raced with a number 4 or with numbers that add up to number that were used by 4 like 8, 12,16 and so on. I don't know where I got this 411 from... I could be wrong... am I.

Jr Mike You are correct....he considered the number 4 lucky, so he registered his boats with that number or some combination of that number like 16, whenever he could.....BUT....When he was World Champion, he used the number that signified that position....# 1. |
Re: Save the Old Race Boats

That boat was owned and raced by Preston Henn. It was a Bertram that was sponsored by Bernie Little as Natural Light. After Preston retired, he brought the boat back out to compete in the Bacardi race and just painted Swap Shop over the old Natural Light colors. We have a photo of it running with the deck split wide open. It will be posted to our Bertram section on the website, but it won't be up for a couple of weeks. Preston stopped racing offshore so he could concentrate on his sportscar racing. He and a co-driver by the name of AJ Foyt won the 24 hours of Daytona drivng a 962 Porsche named........yup, Swap Shop! That is the name of the business that Preston owns in South Florida. |
