What does it take to run your props inward??

On 3a's?? I would like to try it and see what happens. I know on the Bravo's you can just run it in reverse but have been told that's a no go on 3a's. What needs to be done to try it?

Not sure about #3's, but with #6's you have to swap the drives. I'm swapping mine to spin out.....tired of looking like a 12 year old while parking! :D :D It's a bear to get around in the docks with them spinning in, but in all fairness, I didn't get enough seat time to get used to it.

Mine turn in on bravos now. Just bought the boat and havn't got it wet yet. What are the advantages to this? I hear the disadvantages. What does it take to swap back if needed?
Thanks

It's different on every boat...but usually 2-4 mph's faster spinning in.

Drain oil and change the lowers.1 gasket and no steering or trim to R&R. Turning in more bow lift. Docking will get a little
funner. I ran crash boxes turning in on a cat for 4 years.I'm
still alive.

spinning in in most cases will pick up a little speed but will also make most boats handle differently alot of times it will cause the boat to chime walk especially velocity, as for # 3s swap the drives for bravos you need to change the hook up at the shifter......

If the dock's not crowded it's OK. Add a couple dozen boats and a little cross wind and things get exciting really fast!!

Docking with inbound only takes seat time and paying attention to what you are doing. No sweat with my cat.

I'm no expert, but doesn't the drives being farther apart on a cat make it easier?

Ive got a VERY dumb question, If your spinning in, your LH prop is on the starboard side correct?

It's worth trying..Mine spin "In" I just dock like a single engine boat & use the inboard {dockside} engine when i am close

Craig..I think i have a guy interested in your big props

LH meaning left hand prop? if yes then yes. If you're spinning out right now and you change it to spinning in your original left hand prop (spinning out/ originally on the port side) would be on your starboard side when spinning in. makes sense? :D

I'm 99.9% sure that they are sold. A friend of Biggus's wants them...but he hasn't gotten them from me yet. If it falls thru, I'll let you know. TheDonz was also interested.

Ok, I thought about it more and am more confused.

If you look at the TOP of the prop, I can see where a LH prop on the starboard side pushes water in at the top.

But Ive always looked at them from the bottom and If you do it that way, a LH prop on the port side is pushing water IN from the bottom.

Now im really confused.

I have been told you should swap Bravos as well, especially if you have a few hours on them. The gear sets develop a wear pattern after being run a certain direction. Just what I have been told but it makes sense.

"What does it take to runs your props inward...?"

That's easy! Some sockets, a ratchet and the desire to go a little faster at the expense of good docking.!
