Boating Videos Produced From User Submitted Clips
 

Me and a fellow OSO'er were talking the other day about what was available to us in the form of boating videos and came to the conclusion that the there wasnt really alot out there for the fanatics that we are! Sure you can get videos of the races and some of the poker runs, but think about what we as boaters are capable of catching with our own camcorders!! Think about what has been filmed by the roaming boater on any weekend at any location. The boat to boat poker run footage, the parties, the coves and beach parties that really show what the weekend in the life of the offshore powerboater is about!! What is your input on doing something like this? Would you buy a dvd that was professionally edited and cut to music? Would it be better just for download from a website?? Would you submit video for a production like this?? Would you want rated versions available so you could show your hobby off to anyone yet have another version that is more explicit with the wilder side?? Let us know what you think about this please!

I'm probably going to buy a Hi Def camera soon, I would be up for shooting and experimenting with 5.1 mics, (once I really learn how to operate a camera, you know what they say about Sound Guys and anything Video)

Would be interested for those LONGWINTER MONTHS.The best p.r. video i got was a unedited version so why couldn't we just send them on-line on oso and when you wanted to watch you just download them.Would this require OSO GOD STEVE'S approval first for the extra bandwitdh space or whatever it's called.I thought about something similar last year about just getting a camera like the racers use and mount it on the front where you could turn it forward or backwards and just tape everything from runs to just raft ups and almost forgot about bead tossing competition too. :D

I asked a similar question a week or so back, but didn't get much of a reply.
The subject on the thread drifted a bit also.

The production of videos > DVD format, or hosting them is all pretty easy for us.

I'd be interested to see what you could come up with. Although, it would be nice if some new videos/clips were added to the platinum members section...perhaps if you didn't mind not making money off of it then that could be another possibility...

Whatever you do though, make sure you leave at least SOME engine audio in! :)

Nope, wasn't directed at you. I just enjoy hearing some big-block noise instead of just a complete overdub of a music soundtrack with boat video.
