I would assume your refering to a removable drive guard. The only thing you might have a concern with is knocking the outdrives while dunking the trailer. This will depend on how high the boat sits on the trailer and how far into the water you have to back to get the boat to float off. On my Scarab it is not a problem at all. I have a Scarab KV on a Eagle triple axle trailer.

I went with a removable drive guard when I had a trailer built for my Top Gun. Four bolts on each side and it comes off completely. Just the back part will come off by removing two big pins. I pretty much leave the entire thing off most of the time as I keep the boat just a couple of miles from the ramp, but it's nice to have it there if I want to put it on for a trip or something.... plus, it's an extra set of tail lights back there!!

my drive guard swings open....for the kind of hardware on my transom, I wouldn't have a trailer without a drive guard

i have talked with allison about a trailer.,

i can order the drive guard as a seperate bolt up piece , or just have the trailer frame extended 5 feet with the swing gate... just wondering if any pro/con . if someone hits it , most likely trailer will have to be replaced anyway so would it be best to go bolt up or solid framed with the gate..... :confused:

if you are going with the extension for the guard, I would definitely have it swing....no hassles other than removing a pin and swinging around.....the other bolt on guard has to be removed, placed somewhere while launching , then re-installed....much more hassle

Here's a pic of my 33' Powerplay on a Myco I had built for the boat. The driveguard was widend for me to ensure the drives/props didn't hit the trailer. (staggered motors and props turning in) The width of the drivegurad is a little less than the wheels.
The back gate swings to the port side and locks there for dipping the boat
