Looking for new or slighly used Alpha Drive
Going to be replacing my alpha gen 1 off my 87 Scarab 1 this year. I've seen them go on ebay for 1000-1500. There's a company in Florida that sells some kind of OEM for like 1399 but I don't know a lot about it; and there are two on ebay right now for 1000 (not a good choice they were in water a lot).
I'm pretty sure I need the 1:47 gears since I have the 260 Merc Crusier Engine. If anyone has any leads on a new Alpha drive or a really low hour one please let me know. I'm ready to buy as my boat is going in the shop end of Jan.
Thanks

Re: Looking for new or slighly used Alpha Drive
we have bought several of there drives the company is called sterndrive engineering they are owned by sbt the jet ski motor company
we have seen no problems with any that we have installed so far you can buy direct from them they make a nice product but im still trying to figure our how they do it so cheap ALL brand new parts including housings
oh by the,
they absolutely killed the market for rebuilding alphas my net cost is more then that to rebuild if you include labor.....

SEI is the only way to go on an older boat. Probrably best on a newer boat too. When these guys get a Bravo replacement that should turn some heads too. But seriously,we have used their Alphas,no problems at all and you can't beat the price.
