Re: windshield crazing in 35 fountain lightning
Couple friends here on the lake with those have replaced their windshield after those cracks have appeared.
If I recall it was somewhat expensive. One of them had his windshield break while out during a somewhat rough Poker Run here last year. |

Re: windshield crazing in 35 fountain lightning
One of the main reason is the use of cleaners that have amonia, such as Windex.

Re: windshield crazing in 35 fountain lightning
The crazing is caused by any cleaner that has a solvent in it - like alocohol or an aggressive surfactant - like a betaine or high levels of others and even repeated high pH on polycarbonates will do it. Once it happens, you can't fix - just replace it. The crazing is in internal void. Only use water to clean them and it will never happen. BTW it's not unique to fountains..

Re: windshield crazing in 35 fountain lightning
dudes,
it's not the ammonia - I developed the windex formulations - it's what I do for a livin'... there is only enough in there to claim it has ammonia because people believe it does something. |
