Not to confuse things any further.....

But I think Rob has brought a heck of an alternative to the discussion.

Crescent Lower

The Bravo Shop’s crescent-shaped lower is used for the BMax but it can also be used to replace the standard bravo lower. In production testing the crescent lower produced an average increase of 3 mph over the competitor’s housings in both Vee and Catamaran hull applications. It is cast, impregnated, and machined in the same manner as all the other BMax housing components. The crescent lower is available in standard length and 2” shorter version. It can be purchased by itself or with internal components

Yvonne from the Bravo shop sent this to me .I makes since the surface area

Imco 22"
Ours 19"

Square inches of running surface:
Imco 143 square inches per side
Ours 123 square inches per side

Ours B-Max has 40 square inches less running surface total.

Something to think about?

Rob

Not sure since I put the boat up for the year right after testing it with the imco's. One thing I know is that if you are running in salt water the polish finish on them will go fast. The imco tech guy said he wouldn't have them in salt water. In freshwater the finish is suppose to last.

He also said that some people claim a performance gain with satin vs polished, some people the exact opposite. They (IMCO) think they are nearly identical.

That's roughly $3300-$3400 for one...

I'm thinking I can get "two" IMCO's with vertical shaft included for around that price. I can't hardly imagine there's a big enough speed difference between the two to justify double the cost.
