Made a offer! (Values)

I made an offer! On a Kachina.. I didn't get it (they want to0 much) Getting ready to make an offer on a sunsation later today :D Can anyone help me with values ? Is the Nada boat value accurate, high or low? Seems to me everyone wants way more then the boats are worth? I am trying to buy one for 10% less low retail (nada) in perfect shape. Am i being unrealstic? (looking at 2003 thru 2005 boats) TX for any post!

If your trying to buy from a dealer they sell high and take your trade at low book ,look at OSO classifides they have some good deals here.

Re: Made a offer! (Values)

Sunsation Dominators are pretty nice boats. Screw buying via a dealer!! You are just paying his comission on top of what you should be paying the seller. Be vigilant!!!!

I believe NADA low retail for a PERFECT boat is a fair/good deal. I bought and sold a number of express cruisers and low retail was my selling price. Obviously I bought them cheaper but they were in less than perfect condition. I usually spent 100+ hours getting them up to "low retail" prices.

Throw out a price you want to pay and walk away.

Yes... You might be unrealistic in your criteria. However, if you are willing to conduct a long and time-consuming search, then you just might find the "perfect boat" at a great price.

I am also searching for the "perfect boat", but I am willing to pay "average NADA retail" for it.

Good luck! :D

That was an honest attempt to push Gerards boat. I couldn't believe he didn't so I stepped in. :D

Re: Made a offer! (Values)

Are you talkin' new or used?

If new depending on the dealership size/floor plan, 18% and above off MSRP would be a good deal outside of unusual circumstances.

Used. I would go to all the available websites offering boats for sale and come up with my own NADA price range based on what everyone else is selling for especially in your region.

I think low retail is good place to buy for perfect boat too but seems everyone is asking 10% more then average retail..this is huge amount of money 30k in most cases. So gonna take some searching. PS Made my 2nd offer waiting for reply :evilb:

I just don't understand these ads. "Must Sell Fast" "Make Offer", you offer 10k less on a 200k boat and they say no....

Re: Made a offer! (Values)

Same line as other thread:

Bob you need to read the value explanations on the bottom of the nada page. Anything mint will get a premium! You can buy junk for average value and salvage deals will be low retail.

Value Explanations
Low Retail Value — A low retail valued boat will show excessive wear and tear either cosmetically and/or mechanically. This boat will require cosmetic or mechanical work and may or may not be in running order. The buyer can expect to invest in cosmetic and/or mechanical work. Low retail vessels usually are not found on a dealer's lot.

Average Retail Value — An average retail valued boat should be in good condition with no visible damage or defects. This boat will show moderate wear and tear and will be in sound running condition. The buyer may need to invest in either minor cosmetic or mechanical work.

Note: Vessels in exceptional condition can be worth a significantly higher value than the Average Retail Price shown.

Re: Made a offer! (Values)

Its a BUYERS market, don't get too upset if someone doesn't take your offer. As many boats are for sale out there I wouldn't give ANYONE close to nada retail. I watch the detroit freepress, powerboat mag classifieds and the classifieds on here and I see the same boats for sale for months even years. Alot of people are so upside down on their boats they have to throw some money in just to sell it and they just won't do it. A good friend had a baja 29 outlaw, was a real clean boat he bought new. He traded his old boat in on it with 600 hours for 6k LESS than what he owed on it. He paid the dealer top dollar for the new 29 plus rolled the negative balance from old boat into his loan. He was stroking like 950$ a month on a 20 year loan. He lost his license for 7 years and had a couple of kids, couldn't even use the boat legally or afford to put gas in it but he still had to make the pmt and keep insurance on it. Had it for sale for 3 years,he finally came to terms with the fact he had to borrow 15k to pay on loan to sell boat(he owed 70,000 but only got 55,000) for what someone would actually pay. He paid almost 35,000 in pmts and 12,000 in insurance while it was for sale. Funny thing was when he first tried selling it for 85,000 he could have easily got 70,000 for it but he was holding out for "the right person" who'd give him what he was asking! So he pizzed away almost 47,000 in pmts and insurance then STILL had to borrow 15 k to sell it,I laughed at him when he finally sold it,should have sold it "right" 3 years ago and been done with it!!!I'm sure ALOT of these other sellers are in same position,Smitty

The NADA book should be kept in the bathroom, you can rip out pages to wipe your azz with, thats all it's good for.

Beach, is it this boat you are making an offer on?

http://www.offshoreonly.com/esvon/page-8416.html

If it is, the boat is a smokin deal. It's less than 8 months old, had 20 hours on it and the guy has put and easy 15k extra in upgrades in it. They cost 110 plus tax title and lic. with the 525.
He added new guages, billet controls, full hydraulic helm and steering, emi boxes with optimas, billet seat bases, billet trim tank, two hatch rams, it has a full cover, xr drive, 2 huge Fosgate power amps, Diamond Audio hex series seperates, Alpine type x subs, and Alpine deck and its installed and done correctly. The boat itself is immaculate and you wont find any flaws anywhere in it. I know the guy personally and he's the most anal SOB you've ever met.

The boat show is in the beginning of Feb., he's got the front page of the boat trader that week and he paid to be on the flyer they hand out at their booth. The manufacturer will be there selling his new boats without all the upgrades for 110k (plus tax title and lic.) that weekend so he's pretty confindent he'll get some serious offers. I wouldn't expect him to budge too much unless he doesn't get any action at the show.

Actually I was looking at the one loui has with the skulls in showroom.(IT IS BAD ASS seats all have skulls too) But he doesnt want to come down to what i want to pay. Plus with a 525 it will only go mid 75 seems a little slow..Sunsation dominator should break 80 with twin ho's .. i like the open bow if i can get it. Need to find one a couple years old though to be where i want to price wise...

Outdrive1 01-16-2006 08:29 PM

Re: Made a offer! (Values)

They're big boats for single motor application. His 34 is way cool but not priced anywhere close to what you're talking about. Louie is a tough salesman, he will deal with cash offers though, and I mean seriously deal. ;)

I'd like to see what all the people talking about under low book will be asking for THIER boats when they go up for sale? Saw it ALL day long when I was in that end of the business and it still makes me laugh.

Soo very true.

Just remember that boat you buy 10 under book should be worth only 20 under book when you go to sell it. But I bet that's not what you'll be asking for it in a few years.

What hurt my buddy fred to the point he couldn't even afford gas(besides HIMSELF) was his insurance going from 900$ a year to 4000$ because of his dui and the ten g's he haden't planned on spending fighting the dui :evilb: ,Smitty
