Funny, we did a story about the AMF boat setting the Kilo at 118MPH. I never bothered to ask Mike from Jetset about insurance.

Another boat I tested (won't say which one) ran 135 but the owner asked me to keep it under 120 in the article because of insurance. He was already paying $17,000 a year and hardly ever used the boat.

I remember reading about a guy who was paying 16,000 a year premium, perfect driving record with a 65,000$ deductable!!! That was in powerboat mag a few years ago but I might be confusing the 65,000$ deductible with another insurance thread I read on here about insuring big dollar cats,Smitty

It is not the boat that you need to worry abot insuring it is the LIABILITY that you need. If you crash or hurt some one then the damage to your boat will be the leaste of your worries.

Get a personal umbrella policy from yrou main home ins agency. It wont cover your boat if you crash but if you get sued itll cover your liability over a certain amount like 300k or so. Yoru probably looking at 60+k deductable and 20k per year from any marine ins company and you only need to cover enough liability until your unbrella policy kicks in.
