Fuel Trailer?? any one have one?

I am getting tired of carring 5 gallon cans or paying high marina prices for gas when a gas station is right down the road from me. I was thinking of building a fuel trailer100-200 gallon or looking to buy one, just wondering if anyone else has ever done this??

I believe the law is 100 gallon max that you can trailer. I do it becasuse I use 93 octane and there is no place to get it on my lake. I got a trailer from lowes and bolted a fuel tank from tractor supply company to it then use a pump with 30 foot of hose and plug it into 110 outlet at dock. Its the perfect size for me, I use 100 gallons a weekend so I trailer one load every weekend. Make sure you mount the tank near the trailers axle so you don't exceed tounge weight. I have my boat on a lift but not sure the law on fueling the boat in that position??? Just be quick...

I have a old diesel tank from a Dresser TD25 crawler tractor. It is 130 or 140 gallons. I have it on a 4 wheeler trailer and do the same as everyone else. I have 100 foot of hose and a 110v pump running of an inverter in the truck.
Is it legal? Havn't been caught and if I am I will deny, deny, deny, even if caught in the act. I'll put my stuff away & when they drive off, I'll start over.

Guys,

I am imagining a distaster here if you ever get rear ended/or even side swiped.

Are you sure it is legal without carrying a permit?

Funny thing on labor day weekend I was pulling a trailer with 100 gallons of 93 octane with my GX 470, On the turnpike headed to the boat going 88 on a 65 limit. Got pulled over and got out of it with a warning. The state trooper was very nice and I no longer speed when pulling gas. No law against pulling 100 gallons.

why not just put a stationary tank at the lake house and have the fuel delivered?

My boss has a 200 gal. trailer that he had built somewhere in FL. 12V electric pump w/ meter. Tank is Alum w/nice steel frame w/ lights/suspension. Works great! He uses it for his 106 octane.

A friend of mine built one, he bought everything from tractor supply including: a small flat bed trailer, 200g. tank and a DC pump.He hauled AV gas from small airport. 2 problems were slow as hell, and marina found out and wouldnt let him do it on the property for insurance reasons.

Re: Fuel Trailer?? any one have one?

Put the boat on the trailer and now you have a large tank on a trailer to haul the fuel.....and the best part is the fuel is ALREADY in the boat!!! :D

Re: Fuel Trailer?? any one have one?

I have toyed wirth idea but considering I can pull boat fuel with max 180 gal and be back at the houseon the lift in about three hours
Plus gives time to clean bottom and wax alittle at the pumps decide not.
The 180 gal does last a few weekends though if I had to do everyweekend I would get the tank on a trailer

If any of you are in the OH area, here is one on e-bay, I would bid on it but I don't feel like trailering a illegal trailer across 3 states :D

Re: Fuel Trailer?? any one have one?

I have a 500 gal. tank in the ground at my house and a 80 gal. on a trailer that the tractor pulls down the dock to fill the boats and jet skis. I have a Southern States account it saves me about 10 cents from the street and $1.75 on the river per gal. plus I need super and there is no place close that has it.

Where I am at in Virgina I am zone A2 so I didn't need any permits to put a 500 gal. or less in the ground.

Re: Fuel Trailer?? any one have one?

we built one using a 250 gal oil tank and welded it to a old trailer then you can put hand crank or elec pump on it
