Aluminum hulls: Cougar, CUV, etc
Do aluminum hulls start to deform after use in the rough stuff? Anyone know about this from experience?

Yeah, I'd like to know how easy it is to form an aluminum hull with strakes.
|
they don't move. They'll show a little around the bulkheads, but they're beefy. Supposedly, Kurt is closed for the month, btw. The strakes are cut and welded, not formed or bent. I love 'em. I assume you're asking because Riveted is for sale? CUV's are wide tunnel boats. In Winnapesakee(sp?) in 96 or so, Bill Gifford was faster than the Skaters w/ the same hp. Kurt owns giffords old boat.

I'm just asking because I don't know why more aren't made of aluminum.

I thought it's stronger than fiberglass. It is because it cost more, or is it that much harder to work with . Could someone shed some light on this. Kirk |
