Default Rebuild time on HP500's?

After how many hours is it recommended that you rebuild HP500's?

Thanks,

Depends on whos on the sticks. 300 hrs is a good time to freshen. If Budweiser played a roll in throttling then less

I still think 300 is the magic number, new rings, springs, gaskets, bearings & lifters. The 500 Carb's seem to be able to make it to 500 hours but I dont like to push things. It dont have as agressive as a cam as a 500EFI

A friend of mine had 330 hrs on his. They put in valve springs and she was good to go. Ran all of last season as strong as ever.

It is very common on HP 500's to have broken valve springs at 200-250 hrs.

I would agree 300-350 is a good number of hours for freshen. Of course everything has to do with like JC said how hard your are on them. And how good is your maintenance program.

Do a leak down test to check the health of the engine. A general rule for average use would be top end refresh at 200-250hrs and full rebuild at 400-500hrs.

I replaced my valve springs at around 370 hours already had a inner spring broken, no damage though. I am around 450hours now and don't plan on replacing my lifters until 550-600 hours. Very little time running WOT. I was told by multiple builders that these motors babied could get 1000 hours before a full rebuild?? Oh well I had the leak down test done at 370hours and the mech said it was still with in tolerences of a new motor? what ever that meant

Mine made it to 400 hours, with new springs @ 200.

Then, lost a valve seat in one cylinder. But that was the result of leaking headers. Unfortunately, both motors had leaking headers, so both needed complete rebuilds.

If it weren't for the headers, I think the motors had many more hours in them.
